Having booked 3 rooms for a surprise night away and stayed there before I was less than content this time. Firstly I agree with a lot on walking to the pool or rooms through a restaurant isn't ideal. Simple bamboo shades would work without spoiling the area. Anyway on arrival only 2 of the rooms were ready. No biggy so we went to pool and it wasn't clean 4* I think not. I had to tell pool attendant that sauna and Jacuzzi had under 10 years olds in it . No Douglas Hyde restaurant was unreal and how the full experience of a 4-star should be. Again the following morning fiasco queuing to front door for breakfast let the hotel down as did empty orange juice and Fry egg tray. Small complaints but it's not good enough for 4 star imo. Now room comfortable tidy. Wall paper torn, door badly chipped, stains on carpet and one seat and reading lamps lose 🤷🏻‍♂️ again low standard of a 2 star motel not 4star hotel. I was disappointed The Douglas Hyde restaurant and location was the only 4star about the trip to be honest. Compared with my last stay it hasn't got better but slipped a lot.

My partner and I went to the spa for a massage treatment. The interior aesthetic was very impressive and really added to our experience. I got Aisling as my massage therapist. She was very professional and personable, and I really enjoyed my massage. Would highly rate!

I haven’t stayed here in a few years but every bit as good as I remember and more, a little frayed around the edges perhaps but that only adds to the patina! First class service, fabulous food (try the marinated beef strips in the Palm Court) very comfortable rooms, fantastc freshly cooked breakfasts. Excellent Elmis spa treatments & just very relaxing in beautiful lakeside setting. 10/10 for value, I loved that we were offered a 2nd nights stay, well done GM Andrew McGovern

My wife and I availed of Sunday lunch, bed and breakfast at Kilronan Castle and Spa, Ballyfarnon, Co. Roscommon, on Sunday 27th April, 2025. When we arrived to book in the receptionist was very friendly, professional and welcoming. She allocated us a large bright, airy and spotlessly clean bedroom on the third floor. We had a panoramic view over the grounds of the castle and surrounding hills at the front of the hotel. The bed was large and very comfortable and we had an excellent night’s sleep. Despite the fact that the hotel was very busy, there was not a sound to be heard in the bedroom. The peace and tranquillity at Kilronan Castle are unrivalled in other hotels in Roscommon, Leitrim and Sligo. We had Sunday lunch in the Douglas Hyde Restaurant and the quality of the food was exceptionally good. The staff were very friendly, helpful, professional and highly efficient. Sunday lunch in the Dougla Hyde Restaurant at Kilronan Castle is a most enjoyable experience, and you come away with a feel-good factor having received exceptionally good food, high quality service and excellent value for money. Breakfast at Kilronan Castle was also of a very high quality and the staff could not be more helpful, efficient and friendly. This four-star hotel is ideally located between Keadue and Ballyfarnon, Co. Roscommon. It is a twenty-minute drive from Carrick-on-Shannon and a short drive from Boyle, Co. Roscommon. As soon as you drive though the magnificent gateway at the entrance and along the meandering avenue, past the ancient forest on your right overlooking Lough Meelagh, you realise that you are heading to something special. A weekend at Kilronan Castle is an ideal opportunity to escape from the busy vicissitudes of everyday life and enjoy a unique experience on this breathtaking beautiful castle estate. The one undeniable fact about Kilronan Castle is that you get excellent value for money, first class service, excellent food and a unique experience in luxurious surroundings. Well done the to Mr. Andrew McGovern, General Manager, and his excellent staff. We will certainly return to Kilronan Castle. Tom Murphy, Maynooth.

Staying overnight at Kilronan Castle with friends was truly an unforgettable experience. We were a large group of seven friend staying overnight to celebrate a significant birthday of one of the group. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality from every member of staff. They made us feel so welcome and couldn’t do enough to make sure our stay was perfect. The rooms were absolutely stunning — spacious, beautifully decorated, and so comfortable. Every little detail had been thought of, from the luxurious bedding to the gorgeous views across the grounds. It really felt like we were stepping into a fairy tale. The food was another highlight of the trip. Dinner was exceptional — each course was delicious, beautifully presented, and made with the freshest ingredients. Victor and all of the restaurant staff impressed with their knowledge of the food and their genuine friendliness to us. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, with a fantastic variety to choose from and everything cooked to perfection. Overall, our stay at Kilronan Castle was everything we hoped for and more. It’s the perfect place for a special getaway with friends, and we are already planning our next visit. Highly recommend!

Myself and my mum recently visited the beautiful Kilronan Castle for an Afternoon tea. It was an exceptional experience… the atmosphere… the service and the quality of food was amazing. I am a Coeliac and so much thought and effort was made to ensure my experience was as tasty as my mums. Would highly recommend an afternoon tea experience in Kilronan.
