Just back from a nights stay in castle varagh hotel.i have to say its hard to fault,we stayed in a deluxe room, which looked onto the street in castlepollard.it was spotless, with a really comfortable bed and they had put a fan in the room because it was a very warm day.all the staff are friendly from reception to the waiting staff.the breakfast we had was the biggest we have had in any hotel we have stayed in,delicious! We will return.castlepollard is small, but it has a few pubs, its a great base to see the sites.we went to fore abbey and lough lene, both worth seeing.

We stayed Thursday and Friday night this week 19th & 20th June 2025. We had our Wedding Ceremony on Friday followed by post ceremony food and Drinks, we then had an amazing private dinner in a private function dining area which was located opening in to the hotels private gardens. The hotel bedrooms are modern, stylish and have all the facilities you'd expect and more. Our experience with food from Breakfast, bar food, post ceremony light bites to our full 4 course dinner menu was all stunningly prepared and presented using quality produce. All the hotel staff were outstanding in particular we and our guests would like to mention Ciara. Ciara was on hand at every stage to assist us. Clodagh, Mags and all the team made our stay and special day all we dreamed of and more. Patrick the hotels Manager has been a pleasure to deal with at all stages and delivered an outstanding service with a very personal touch. The decor, the facilities, food, staff and gardens make this hotel more than just a hotel. This hotel and it's staff deserve to be recognised for the excellent customer service delivery and warmth we experienced, thank you from Trevor & James Duffy.

The rooms are very spacious, comfy beds, modern and exceptionally clean. Great shower with top of the range toiletries you would expect in a 5 star hotel. Good selection of food in the restaurant, Mary the restaurant manager was so helpful and professional nothing was a problem. Breakfast was delicious, lots to choose from, so much so a slightly larger plate would be welcome, all overseen by Margaret the General manager who was friendly and attentive pointing us in the direction of local must see sights. My sister and I feel we have found a hidden gem in gorgeous Castlepollard . We will be back before the summer is out!

We stayed in their family room that was spotless and large. The kids loved it. From the moment we arrived the staff were fantastic. The hotel itself is close to so many amazing attractions that we toured that day. It was my daughter's communion and the staff brought her out a stunning dessert. Their kindness and friendliness made the experience amazing and we will return.

I don’t normally write reviews but I really loved this place, We stayed Easter weekend 2025 and it was the best stay we got the most beautiful room with a little seating area to watch tv and relax, mini Easter eggs in the girls room which they absolutely loved, the beds are so comfortable best nights sleep I had in ages, the staff unbelievable nothing was too much and the girl at reception was so welcoming and chatting to our little one like she was so important (in our eyes she is ) we had lunch and dinner (the weather was bad so did not venture far on the Saturday) both sittings for meals was absolutely delicious, great buzz in the bar in the afternoon really nice feel to the place, on the Sunday we went to a cafe the hotel are involved in about 5 minutes out the road Tullynally castle and had one of the best coffees along with red velvet cake, the walks around the castle at the coffee shop are stunning, we will definitely be back down during the summer as there is a lake nearby that sounds amazing, Castle Varagh is such a beautiful relaxing hotel if you are just looking a break away to unwind and relax absolutely perfect.

Imagine waking up at 6 a.m ready to have your shower. But the room is freezing. And the water is freezing! You phone down to Reception to find out what is going on. And there is no one there! You come back to your room in the evening after a day out. It's freezing! You call down to Reception. There IS someone there! And she puts the heat on for half an hour. No, this hotel by not heating its rooms is taking advantage of its customers. NEVER again.

This was our second time staying in the hotel and we were delighted with the room and breakfast and we would stay again. It's a modern and comfortable hotel. Unfortunately, when we were there the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night as the pub next door was actually on fire. This was no fault of the hotel. Myself and about 7 other guests made our way to the side emergency exit. Unfortunately, in the dark and being disorientated, we could not find how to get around to the fire point at the front of the building. We couldn't get out left and in the dark, we thought it was a shed only to the right. After 45 minutes waiting at the side emergency exit, I rang the local garda station to ask what to do as we couldn't figure the way out and there was no staff around. After I made the call and told guests that the pub next door was on fire, another guest spoke up to say we could get out via carpark to the right, I don't know why he didn't speak up in first place!! So 7 of us piled into his car , drove out in strangers car and around front of building, it was all a bit mad!! Once the fire officers extinguished fire and checked hotel, we were allowed back in. This emergency situation was nothing to do with hotel but I wanted to let them know our experience of evacuation. I did wait at reception when checking out to tell staff in person but no body came so I left key at desk and left.
