The critical reviews about this place are so unfair. This place is a 10+. First, everyone needs to remember this area had hurricane damages beyond belief less than a year ago. So yes, some roads have detours and repairs needed as does infrastructure and businesses. And yes, some pricing may be a bit higher however just remember, once again, they were out of electricity and phone/ computer signals not to mention washed out roadways/bridges and flooding damages, a few of the many tragedies that accompany a terrible traumatic event out of everyone's control. We never had any issues with the wi-fi as each unit has their own password and connection. We did encounter frequent "no signal" issues when traveling throughout the mountains but never hear. To understand where they were last year versus today one could say is a monumental accomplishment. One is unable to access the back outdoor balcony upstairs or downstairs due to the damages and unsafe reports acquired in the hurricane. We did not miss them as we loved the wooded views from the inside and outside front areas. If I were selfish I would say to focus on the critical reviews so we can stay more often by having more availability however I am not selfish. This place was incredibly amazing. From Check-In to Check-Out we were pleasantly surprised how incredible this resort is. (We were concerned due to the recent negative reviews). The staff were extremely positive, hospitable, overly attentive and accommodating, and yes occasionally tending to other guests via the text messaging system they use on a cell-phone. Every request or question we texted to them went unanswered. They showed zero signs of not caring ever. We were always welcomed when we stopped in at the office. It is a large resort so the AMENITIES are not in your backyard but worth a short drive to the location where they are located: A beautiful pool-indoor and outdoor An up to date and upscale fitness center/work out gym A beautiful hot tub area A very nice tanning bed A fun putt putt golf course A challenging high rope course to navigate Friendly staff as well, just to highlight a few of the perks-Be certain to take your guest pass to access everything in this area. We stayed in a two story condo (1341 to be exact). The updates, upgrades and renovations are breath-taking. Every condo is well stocked with supplies everyone needs to cook and manage one's kitchen, bathroom, bedding and linen needs. Refer to the pictures for the beauty we experienced. The Master bed and bath, and the laundry (washer and dryer) are located on the 2nd floor/basement which are gorgeous. The shower is huge with renovated and updated finishing. We believe we had 10-12 steps, easy to access with handrails. In closing, we cannot wait to return and further enjoy this fantastic find.

This was our second trip to Sapphire Valley, as it is truly one of the prettiest places in the Smokies. We love the fresh air, the wildlife, and the friendly small town atmosphere. We were excited to get to our unit and begin our weeks vacation. Upon arrival we were told that the sliders to our decks were locked and bolted due to the hurricane damage that ravished the area. We understand hurricane damage as we come from FL, but we felt we should have been notified of this as being outside is part of the charm of this vacation. The property should have given us a chance to either cancel or reschedule. The unit we stayed in was two levels and we stayed on the lower level. We realized very quickly that in case of a fire we had no way out other that the primary exit upstairs. The sliders were indeed bolted shut. This was not what we bargained for and I cannot in good conscience recommend this property to anyone. I find it impossible to believe that the fire department would have approved this. Because we love this area so much next time we will rent from Airbnb or VBO.

We booked this place for a week. In general, it was ok. The furniture in the living area is not the most comfortable. Parking by your unit can be a challenge if units have multiple cars. No obvious overflow close. The most disappointing thing was we looked for a place with an outside deck. When we arrived, we had two decks but no furniture. All the other units had complete sets. When we called the front desk about this, we were told the decks were not to be used due to storm damage. When I questioned this statement as we were not told this at check in and decks were not closed off, I was informed we could go out there at our own risk. It was a pain to move the indoor furniture outside each day but we wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather. All of the other units in our block used their decks as well and were not warned the decks are unsafe. I personally felt that the front desk was just too lazy to fix the problem. On a side note: one of our neighbors used bedding to cover chairs and tables since they were disgustingly dirty. I guess overall, using the indoor furniture was a plus for us on that count.

The resort has been updated. Pretty nice over all. They took out the big tubs. I understand. They took out the Frieplace and replaced with an electric fake one. Don't really want to be in the woods and not have a real fire. We'll be moving on to a different location.

I had a wonderful stay at Fairway Forest thanks to the amazing service provided by the staff. Cora Lee and Nicole at the front desk went above and beyond to accommodate my needs, offering helpful tips about the area and always greeting me with a warm smile. Moreover, Billie, the manager, was exceptionally kind and eager to assist, ensuring my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, the hospitality I experienced made my visit truly memorable, and I can’t wait to return!

They are in the process of renovating the resort. The new bathrooms and furnishings are very nice and very comfortable. The units are quite large and well laid out. The staff is super kind and helpful. The location in great - close to everything in the Highlands/Cashiers area, but also close enough to the Smoky Mountain National Park, Cherokee entrance to make it a fun day trip. Why four stars instead of five? The outdoor saltwater pools didn’t open for the season until our last day ( the indoor pool is a bit depressing, but nice hot tubs), and they were going to redo the decks right after we left, so we had no deck furniture. New decks will be nice when we return. Best: we had a two level, 2 bedroom unit. It was blissfully quiet, with no one walking overhead.
