Location: Centrally situated in Cascais, the hotel is a short walk from the train station, beaches, restaurants, and shops. This makes it an excellent base for exploring nearby attractions such as Lisbon, Sintra, and Estoril.

Overall a nice hotel with flaws… room was absolutely tiny, nowhere near enough space to open two suitcases. Breakfast was the worst if any of the Mr & Ms Smiths hotels we stayed in with “factory” food. Location is great. Hotel is very pretty. Service was very sweet. I would look at other options in Cascais.

We stayed at the Pergola for 3 nights, with 27 family members, renting just about all of the rooms for our group. We all had a lovely stay. The gardens and outdoor sitting area were lovely and we gathered here most evenings before and after dinner, it was magical. The location of the hotel was great for our group, we could walk to the beach and to dinner, and we also do day trips to Lisbon and Sintra. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were easily accessible and always willing to do all they could to make our stay in Cascais at the Pergola perfect.

What a charming place to stay in beautiful Cascais! This was our base for 4 nights and we loved every minute. It's a very special place and centrally located. The morning breakfast is a great way to start the day, and the lovely outdoor bar is a great way to finish the day. Thank you for a memorable stay!

A relative and I shared a twin room at this hotel from 30th March 2025 for six days. We were fortunate to have a room with a balcony on the first floor. The hotel was refurbished a few years back, with the rooms having perhaps an art deco/1920s style. It felt as though it could have been out of an Agatha Christie story. I love hotels with character, so The Pergola Boutique Hotel was perfect. I hope to return to this hotel in future. Hotel highlights - 1) Beautiful garden and hotel grounds. We heard lots of birds chirping. 2) First-floor lounge area that is nice for reading or working. This was a nice touch and allows you to have a peaceful area away from things. 3) Lovely breakfast area with a delicious omelette. 4) Really nice staff with great customer service. You are put on a hotel WhatsApp group to ask any questions or have things sorted out. 5) The room was well done and had a great view. 6) The restaurant is run by another company, but the food is excellent and the staff are friendly. 7) The hotel was not too large, which allowed for a more intimate feel than larger hotels in Cascais. 8) The transport to the airport and back was easy to arrange. The hotel sent an email with a link to an App-based taxi company that worked well. Reception - A huge thanks to Nadia at reception. We had booked to change rooms during our stay as the one we wanted was not available for the whole period. However, due to another guest cancelling, we were able to stay in the same room for the whole period. Great customer service and much appreciated!

Very disappointing. Like many, I fell in love with the appearance of this hotel on a visit 3 years ago and assumed the level of comfort would be exceptional. The price was eye watering - on a par or dearer than the top 5* hotels - but was not justified. I learned too late to cancel that there is no lift and my room was on 2nd floor. I had knee problems and had to plan my day with minimal returns to room as the climb up was a world of pain. The room itself was described as de luxe superior at higher price, but was nothing special, quite large but wasted space in entrance. Window was small with no view of lovely garden. No balcony. No TV or phone in room so to call reception you have to use your phone. Breakfast had great reviews but the buffet was very limited, probably because the room it is served in was very small. However you can take your breakfast in the beautiful garden. Hot menu options available but manager didn't tell me until I was halfway through my toast & jam. Buffet wasn't replenished after 9.00 although served until 10.30, so coming down at 9.30 found slim pickings. Since my earlier visit a posh restaurant has been installed taking up half the garden and rooms right overhead will be noisy in the evening. I didn't eat in the restaurant, it was packed every night and lunchtime. The house is beautiful and I imagine it costs a lot to maintain, but €350 a night in May is outrageous without a corresponding level of comfort and service. And you can only see the front of the house from the garden. I should have read all the reviews first, let that be a lesson to me! Next time I will book something more modern and probably less expensive. For that price I could have stayed in the Pousada or the Miragem with a view, a TV and an elevator. My impression was, they are targeting rich Americans who will pay through the nose for such a pretty house and garden. The staff were very professional and slick but when I expressed my disappointment I just got blank face and I could tell it would not be passed on. Not a word of apology. To top it all, they advertise a car service to the airport for €50, on the morning I was leaving it turned out to be €75 and an outside firm so I took a regular taxi. All in all a very disappointing experience. Cascais is my favourite place and I will return, just not to this hotel. Lesson: Read ALL the reviews before booking!

We booked this hotel based on the many positive reviews. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met. On the positive side, the location of the hotel is excellent and the staff was helpful and attentive. The hotel is clean, the rooms are spacious, and the included breakfast was good. However, we noted considerable deficiencies: There is no elevator, requiring us to walk up and down 37 steps several times a day. The room was very sparsely decorated - no pictures whatsoever on the walls, no TV, radio, clock or a box of tissues. The placement of the reading lights by the bed was totally inadequate and made it impossible to read in bed. Our room was advertised as having a garden view, but that view was completely blocked in our “superior” room by the roof of the restaurant. The bathroom is outdated and needs a major rennovation. Contrary to claims about the beautiful gardens, the outdoor space is limited and is taken over by a restaurant that is independent of the hotel. Overall, this hotel is highly overpriced and does not deserve 4 stars. For the same price, we could have booked much nicer, 5-starred hotels (we actually checked some of these).
