3 Palms Tucson North Foothills

I was in the Phoenix Tucson area and did a search on hotels in Tucson and found the 3 Palms. I drove down from Phoenix and got to the hotel before check in time. The young lady at the front desk said my room would be ready soon if I didn’t mind waiting an hour. Crystal, the day manager overheard our conversation and came out and offered me to upgrade for no cost to a pool facing room and I could check in immediately. An upgrade and early check in. Who would say no? Checked in and then went out to the pool area which was immaculate. Found a spot and enjoyed the remainder of the day. Everyone at the pool was so nice and friendly. Something about people on vacation makes them nicer. When I checked in, I was given a list of local restaurants and places of interest such as parks and shopping along with Places of Worship. Great idea. More hotels should have a list of all the above to make getting around a strange place easier. That night I ended up eating at the Guadalajara Grill which was close. Great Mexican food and service. The next night after a day at the Pima Air Space Museum I tried another place on the list, Cold Beers and Cheeseburger. I had eaten at one in Chandler the week before and it did not disappoint. Great pub grub. My only negative on 3 Palms was they should up the morning coffee service in the office area. Coffee was ok but a pump bottle of Coffee Mate vanilla creamer was not what I would have expected in such a nice place. Half and Half, oat milk. Anything but such a fake tasting product like Coffee Mate. And I believe another reviewer commented on the lack of hot tea. Upgrades easy to remedy and not expensive Also, the hotel has established a happy hour at the pool. In my two days there, I only saw one person taking advantage of the bar. Once the sun goes behind the buildings, the pool area empties fast. If they want to make this a go, more advertising, happy hour prices, whatever it takes to make it work. Felt bad for the person working the bar. I would definitely return to the 3 Palms when I am back in the Tucson area.

We were impressed by the elegant modern decor of the spacious room - several steps up from the usual motel furnishings. We understood the reason for the extra $100 security deposit, which was promptly returned when we left. However, there were steps up, no elevator, to access our second floor room. In addition to the large pool, they offer a putting green and a happy hour. The motel adjoins the beautiful Tohono Chul Gardens, with a fine restaurant.
