This hotel is very good. I probably would have rated it 4.5 if the scale of rating facilitated that. The hotel has an excellent ambience and is very beautiful architecturally. Marble is amply used in the lobby and in the premier suite that I had booked. Beautiful array of flowers are present in the lobby and in the adjacent bar area. The fish tank whilst many were photographing it I found it to be passé - so 70’s. My Premier suite was beautiful- ample space , wood and marble beautifully used and I totally loved it. So if it was so good, why is it not great. The finishing touches that take it from good to great were missing. 1). I wrote to reception four times making specific requests during my stay - whilst the concierge who arranged my special VIP meet at the airport and my transfer to and from the airport was copied into the email reception never replied and neither did they act on it even though they mentioned it during my check in. 2) One of the requests I had made for instance and which was acknowledged during my check in was for the premier suite on a higher floor , imagine my surprise and disappointment that my suite was on floor 7 - the rooms of the hotel are on floors 6- 22. I guess they considered that they had fulfilled my request because it was not on floor 6! 3). The hotel skimps on some of the amenities. For instance it is one of the few luxury hotels that I have stayed in that does not provide a shaving kit. Of course you can call for it but who wants the hassle of calling for a shaving kit every day especially when you are paying more than $1,600 per night. 4) The soft drinks in the mini bar are free but they are not replenished properly daily. A lovely place to stay but to truly move from a very good to a great luxury hotel, especially given that it is very pricey , it needs finesse and an improvement on the finishing touches and customer responsiveness.
