Great hotel on the beach, nice staff.
The hosts were wonderful and welcoming the hotel was clean and well done. Breakfast was great. The only thing I didn’t like was the area and it’s location relative to most activities. If you would like a quiet removed vacation on the beach this is your best spot.

The hostel and staff were great. Catas morning breakfast was always a pleasure to eat. The area outside is not the best though. Also the beach isn’t too great as many fisherman use it there are sometime dead fish along the shore with some smell.
There are not many restaurants to eat during the night and we ended up ubering to get to the main city almost everyday.
Staff is very good though and hostel itself is nice and clean.

Pleasantly surprised! Tucked away in La boquilla, ( not a very rich area) is a beautiful retreat. Cold room, stunning balconies and rooftop. Full kitchen. Only place to eat is next door, closes early. I used Rappi for other meals beach is long and swimable. The whole town come out in evening to play soccer it's a very lovely family town. You must get past what your eyes see on the drive here. This is not Bocagrande. I felt safe and a nostalgia watching the town enjoy life into the sunset. Felt like 1990's no cellphones out . They offer included beers and cokes and water, that made my night having ice cold beers! I would come back. A well worth mini adventure

Aproveche una oferta y me aloje nuevamente en este hostal donde me siento muy bien recibido. Clarita ya sabe que me gusta el café así que desde que salgo de la habitación me ofrece un rico café colombiano. Rodrigo, quien cuida el lugar en la noche es muy amable y conversador. Si quieres una verdadera inmersión cultural, este es sin dudar, el mejor hostal donde te Puedes alojar. Las camas son súper cómodas con buena ropa de Cama y toallas. Pulcro, impecable todo y Leandra, la propietaria está muy atenta a ayudarte siempre. Los desayunos todos varían cada día y podrás probar diferentes tipos de arepas colombianas hechas de Maíz (especialmente la arepa de Huevo que es típica cartagenera que hacen los domingos… buenisimas!). Si requieres un taxi, te lo consiguen con una espera corta. Está ubicado a 30 minutos del centro. Lo recomiendo ampliamente… no dudes en reservar aquí!

Last year in march we spent our vacation here and we were very happy with our choice! Everyone was sooo wholesome and welcoming to us, the food was amazing and the hosts did everything for us to be happy and have a great vacation. I highly recommend you to come here! Greetings from germany :)

Clean, great people, rather new place. It can be hard to find for taxi drivers, so give them the hotel number , and the hotel owner will direct them (Google map is a bit unreliable in this area). The area- read about the area so you are not surprised- we were not expecting this. It looks rough and poor. However- it is safe and very, very friendly. We walked around during the day, enjoyed interactions with everyone. We also shopped in a local shop and made dinner - the kitchen is well equipped and you are welcome to use it. The owner is a great lady, and she can recommend some activities, there are dance and drum playing classes nearby. In the morning and late afternoon kids play soccer on the beach, they are fun to watch.

Es sin dudar el mejor hostel de la zona de La Boquilla, una villa auténtica de pescadores que aunque viven muy humildemente en casas de madera, plástico y ladrillos a medio terminar, son muy amables, risueños y te ofrecen su comida de mar aún hecha en leña, con pescados frescos como la mojarra roja… deliciosa!!! Makena es un oasis en medio de todo. Un lugar lleno de colores y decoración de buen gusto. Todo puesto en su lugar! Limpio, ordenado y las habitaciones impecables! El personal es muy amable. Al desayuno te atienden a cuerpo de rey y la sazón es muy de casa. Te ayudan en todo: transporte, toured a los manglares, reservas en restaurantes y te guían cómo llegar al centro. Uno creería que esta lejos de todo pero en realidad no, es solo saber cómo moverte y podrás estar en un lugar único, hacer una inmersión cultural inolvidable y llegar al centro en 30 minutos. Ven a conocer este hostel en familia. Puedes reservar la casa en exclusiva si lo deseas!

Fui a hacer teletrabajo y el 3er piso de Makena fue el lugar perfecto, callado y justo frente al mar que estaba buscando. El WiFi funciona a la perfección. Rodrigo tenia cafecito listo a las 5 a.m. para poder comenzar el día. El staff preparaba un desayuno delicioso, como el que hace mi mamá en casa. La playa está justo al frente, por lo cual se puede almorzar pescadito fresco todos los días. La atención de Makena y su gente, además de su ubicación, hacen que quiera volver muchas veces más muy pronto.
