Booked a 2 night stay. Left after 1 day. It’s cheap so we were not expecting much. Staff friendly enough. Room very basic. Not very clean. Very tired room. More like a hostel. Great band playing on Friday night from 9pm and then great music on jukebox(?) until almost 2 in the morning. Unfortunately we were in bed trying to sleep but, by the sound of it, we could have been in the bar. Noise from road very loud also. Didn’t use shower or towels, cups or glasses. Bed ok, pillows, less so. Will look elsewhere next time.

I was travelling back from Aberdeen and it was pretty late , So i decided to find a hotel , And came across Kinloch hotel , Pretty decent hotel and the girl behind the bar was very helpful even tho i dropped a glass ,So all good rooms good shower good and only £49

I realise this is budget accommodation, but the least you can surely expect is function and cleanliness. Sadly, both were lacking. Wifi was pointless, TV didn't work in our room (Room 6), bathroom was not very clean, and there was literal dirt all over the blanket at the foot of my bed which went all over the bed after I tried to pull the blanket over me because the windows wouldn't shut. I'm glad I only stayed for one night.

We met up with friends who came down from Inverness. Also friends who stay in the locality. The Inverness ones and us were staying in the Kinloch Arms. On arrival we were met by a friendly greeting from the guy behind the bar. He showed us to our room, which is called Gary Player. All of the rooms are named after golfers who have won the open at Carnoustie. The room was very fresh and clean. There was a kettle for tea and coffee. We also had sky TV, en_suite bathroom. There was even a seat in the room. Makes a change from just having a bed to sit on. The hotel is under new management and not doing meals in the evening until Nov 1st.They did suggest another hotel in town for food. We did not book breakfast which was available. However our friends in the locality asked us for breakfast at their house. Will use the hotel again. All that you need and reasonbaly priced.

Rooms were average but never cleaned during my 4 day visit a year ago.or the beds changed..my ex. Wife recently booked again to visit family and was cancelled due to being related to previous bar staff.. what a awful way to treat customers. Glad I booked at travel lodge..

Decor and maintenance is extremely poor. Ensuite light didn’t work, was told Manager would come to investigate but didn’t turn up. Booked a double room but was given a twin. Was told to push beds together. Beds really uncomfortable. Decided to leave and go elsewhere. On leave was told Manager would phone to discuss, still waiting. AVOID

This place needs a complete overhaul. Our room was cheap bearing in mind it’s august but the kitchen was closed down so no available evening meal and no breakfast, manager was cheerful and other staff. Bedroom was large but the landing carpets need a professional deep clean or replacing.

I’ve been going to this pub for years now and I’ve always loved it and thoroughly enjoyed myself everytime I visited, that was until the old manager left and everything went downhill after the new manager started. I visited the other night about 7pm, went to the bar, got a drink, sat at my table, had a couple sips of my drink and then proceeded to go to the toilet, while I was in the toilet doing my business a stranger started banging on my door (which obviously gave me a fright) asking if I was being sick, I can understand why she would have thought that as I have a chest infection at the minute and my cough sounds horrendous it sounded like I was being sick but I wasn’t, but why on earth is a stranger banging on my toilet door in the first place? A bit of privacy and peace would have been ideal and I wouldn’t have been sick as I only had a couple of sips of my drink, I was completely sober at this point. Everything was fine until about 9pm when the manageress decided to tell the male bar staff that was working behind the bar to refuse me drink as she said I had been sick? (Obviously referring to earlier in the toilet) male bar staff and manageress wouldn’t even let me explain myself, explaining to them that I hadn’t been sick and the male bar staff was having none of it, wouldn’t listen to a word I said, so rude and abrupt - both of them! didn’t believe me, refused me service even though they had literally been serving me all night with no issues? Absolutely ridiculous. So I basically got refused for absolutely nothing! I bought two drinks just before getting refused, if I was that bad why would the male bar staff sit and watch me drink them and allow me to drink them if I was “that bad” 😂 not a way to treat a customer, especially one that’s a regular from the area that has supported the pub for so long! Avoid all costs.
