The hotel interior is looking rather tired, the corridors are stark and our room while spacious was unattractive. The bathroom was cramped and poorly designed. It was clean and tidy and the staff do the best they can with difficult facilities and surroundings.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Delicious breakfast with a good choice. Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay here with our small dog.

I wasn’t expecting much considering the stars & reviews but this is the most disgusting place I’ve ever stayed in. The room was dirty, mess on the floor, ***** in the shower and on toilet, mould and grime, thick dust, floors and doors creak and clatter, walls are paper thin, the tv didn't work, the curtains are see through so no sleep as soon as its daylight and finally the breakfast was vile.

Avoid. Simply the worst hotel you can book. We were placed in 'the cottage' which looked to be falling to bits and stunk of cigarettes and ****. The blind was broken so we were told to sleep with it open, the bed sloped, the shower door didn't close, and the whole place is dirty and dilapidated. We were offered a new 'upgraded' room but this was just as bad, and nothing like the photos online. The owner refused to offer any sort of refund for the false advertising and state of the rooms, then proceeded to insult my girlfriend. We ended up staying in a nearby Airbnb instead and didn't bother staying at the Pinegrove. I'd suggest doing the same.

Friendly staff, welcoming ,clean hotel, great value, lovely old building, used to be owned by the bishop of Carlisle, good breakfast, great chef, lots of free parking, good location to city centre, food places nearby, recommended ****†************

Very poor service. Room is very dusty and toilet shower broken and very inadequate flow of water.
Not the room they showed in the online.
