The room was clean and hygienic. I found two socks left by previous guests in the room.
The location is good. There is a supermarket next to it, which is convenient. There is also free parking. Other things are generally OK.

Swimming pool still not open at the hotel. Smelt like done one had been smoking in the bathroom prior to our stay.

The hotel has mixed reviews and obviously was previously a large prominent hotel. Parts of the hotel have been sold off or being used for retail. Reception and bar area are nice although area where breakfast is served was once a function room. Breakfast was very average. Dinner served in a downstairs room was just about ok although you feel you are not sitting in a restaurant. Young staff were not great at service. Pool was warm and very welcome. No air con in rooms so ask for fan. Room was a decent size.

We stayed here while walking Hadrian’s Wall path east to west - the hotel rooms are slightly old fashioned but the staff are very friendly and helpful, the location is very central and breakfast decent. A big plus for our aching limbs was the swimming pool and jacuzzi which we loved! Would definitely recommend as a place to stay in Carlisle !

Lovely hotel , the staff were lovely Amanda at front of house was amazing with us, we got a lovely card for our anniversary, she brilliant at her job, also Rosalind our breakfast host , she a breath of fresh air , food was lovely plenty of choice , the room was lovely and clean, parking was free aswell which is a bonus, we would highly recommend this hotel, in the centre of town close to all the shops pubs and resaurants. Well done all the staff at the hotel your doing a great job xx

Have stayed here before and know what to expect from this hotel which is situated in the centre of the city and close to the railway station which we used for a trip to Newcastle on Tyne. Our room was in the annex side and it was lovely with views of the cathedral etc. and was very well fitted out with two easy chairs ,a small table which is what we like unlike many other hotels that never seem to provide these especially for a couple,a spacious wardrobe and very clean especially on the areas that often get overlooked around the tops of pictures,tv and headboard. Their staff are very friendly and hardworking which is a bonus these days.It was nice to meet up with Alistair again who has been on the management team for years and he hasn't lost that wicked humour which is always entertaining for us. The only two things that spoiled it for us on this occasion was a wedding party playing loud music till the early hours with noisy guests standing outside and someone smoking in the entrance to the annex which made the stairway stink of tobacco smoke ! Apart from that it was a very good stay for us and we will return when we can.

Good hotel in a great location. You are right near shops and a short walk from a lot of the attractions and nightlife. There is some parking in a gated lot but there is also a cheap public lot less than 5 minutes walk away. Reasonably priced and friendly staff.
