Juma Amazon Lodge

The hotel and the bungalows are connected by walkways and are situated on stilts, so the forest floor where they are located is free to roam for the local fauna, with only visual contact with tourists. The bungalow I stayed in was spacious and air-conditioned, with ceiling fans, a balcony with a glass door and hammocks to enjoy the sunset overlooking the Juma River. The bathrooms are new and in perfect working order, with a shower (sauna-style) with hot and cold water and packaging (following sustainability concepts) with liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner in a “self-service” model, to avoid waste and plastic packaging, but with high-quality products. My bungalow had a king-size bed and two single beds. As for food, the hotel restaurant has a screened-in window and faces the river. In addition to breakfast with fruit, porridge, bread, tapioca and coffee, lunch was served to guests and consisted of delicious food, with at least prime meat and Amazonian fish, in addition to the usual side dishes. During lunch, guests are presented with the dinner menu of the day, and they choose the starter, main course and dessert that will be served in the early evening. Drinks are always cold and the service is perfect at any meal. In addition, the hotel has a swimming pool with running water from the Juma River, with a fenced-in deck and a “cage” bottom with a safety screen, with a local bar and lounge chairs and towels. The hotel also offers ecological tours (long and short walks), canoeing and tree climbing, and you can also schedule fishing for the large local tucunarés and pirarucus. On previous visits, I have caught tucunarés weighing over 9 kg and a small pirarucu with a lot of adrenaline and safety. The guides are very competent and knowledgeable about the region, introducing guests to the local environment safely and providing knowledge about the Amazonian fauna and flora.

Unser Aufenthalt in der Juma Amazon Lodge war absolut fantastisch! Besonders hervorheben möchten wir unseren Guide Ralf, der mit seinem enormen Wissen über den Regenwald beeindruckt hat. Er war stets sympathisch, motiviert und hat uns mit seiner Leidenschaft für die Natur regelrecht angesteckt. Dank ihm haben wir unvergessliche Einblicke in die Tier- und Pflanzenwelt des Amazonas bekommen. Ein weiteres grosses Lob geht an Sandro, den Bootsfahrer und Assistenten von Ralf. Auch er war grossartig, stets hilfsbereit und hat uns sicher durch die faszinierenden Wasserwege des Amazonas navigiert. Daniel von der Rezeption hat mit seiner Freundlichkeit, Motivation und Aufmerksamkeit dafür gesorgt, dass wir uns zu jeder Zeit bestens betreut gefühlt haben. Das gesamte Team war unglaublich freundlich und zuvorkommend – man spürt, dass hier wirklich alle mit Herz bei der Sache sind. Das Essen war ebenfalls hervorragend, jede Mahlzeit ein Genuss – auch für Vegetarier bestens geeignet! Es gibt wirklich nichts, was wir an unserem Aufenthalt bemängeln könnten. Wir können die Juma Amazon Lodge nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen und freuen uns schon jetzt auf unseren nächsten Besuch!

Lieu de qualité avec une belle vue mais malheureusement n’est pas à la hauteur du lieu. Nourriture et petite déjeuner minimale mais pas en adéquation avec le nombre d’étoiles. Nettoyage laissant à désirer et pas de savon à l’évier uniquement dans la douche. Très à cheval sur les principes mais pas le cas dans le sens inverse. Manque de boissons ou d’alcool compris dans le prix par exemple
