Owston Hall Hotel

Overall nice hotel, good sized room, nice and modern. Big comfortable bed. Only faults was there was a load of ladybirds in the bathroom, looks like there was some form of infestation. Only noticed this in the morning and reported it to the front desk when checked out. The bathroom door is also frosted with the window leaking through so was quite bright in the morning, think this might have just been my room though with it being on the end. It was great location for a wedding I attended at Hooton Pagnall Hall - only 10 mins away so great location for what I needed. Staff were friendly. Would recommend

My wife and I stayed at Owston Hall twice on the way between Scotland and the South East. The location is very convenient, a few minutes off the A1 and near the M62. Plus Owston makes a point of being pet-friendly: on both occasions most of the other guests had dogs with them (we had a cat). The hall itself is an eighteenth century country mansion set in spacious grounds originally laid out by Humphrey Repton, which are now a golf course and give wide, green views from the bar and terrace. The bar doubles as the clubhouse of the golf club, so it has a sociable buzz from a steady flow of people through it. The staff are one of the best parts of the hall – they were all extremely friendly and helpful and so gave Owston a welcoming feeling that hotels don't always have, making our stays there a real pleasure. The restaurant is also very good – I had the fishcake, my wife had the prawn cocktail and we each had Caesar salad, all well presented and with distinct flavours. The Caesar in particular had the 'right' dressing. The room was large, quiet and comfortable, so we both slept extremely well. Breakfast the following morning was also nicely prepared and tasty, setting us up for the day ahead. All in all a very good find!

Be careful before booking to stay at this hotel. There are major building works being done which start at 07:00 in the morning. The manager Joseph Farrar has been notified countless times but doesn't appear to have any control over his builders. The demolition and building noises start around 07:05 and continue all day. Contrary to what the website says, "peaceful and It’s where the guest experience is our priority, and every moment is as grand as the surroundings." Rest assure, it is not.
