NEVER AGAIN. Could not get hot water for a shower for two days. Broken windows that would not close. Filthy tub grout. Valencia room. Lady at front desk offered us a $100 discount we never received. I called and spoke with the manager. He refused to honor the discount and instead offered us a discount (15%) on a future stay. For a $400+ room this was ridiculous and rude. Will never do that again.

I selected Inn at Depot Hill as it seemed like an historic and interesting place. The room themes were well appointed, professionally done. You would have to look at the pictures. I really don't know what to think about this place. It appears to have been a very popular Inn at one time, well worth the price. I think the best way to review this hotel is to do a list of Pros and Cons: Pros: Nice People Offers Breakfast to your room Extremely Clean for the most part Very Comfortable Bed Mostly Era Based Decor (in different places) Nice Architecture, Authentic. Cons: Lining to drapes were torn and detached (probably from the sun through the windows and french doors. They need to be re-lined. Breakfast was only moderately good. Terrible stains on the shower floor. Didn't want to use it. The love seat across from the TV had no cushions. They had been worn down and felt like sitting on wood slats. It was not comfortable at all. When I went to close the french door, the handle almost fell off. I did not feel safe. There was no-one in the Inn at parts of the day. The Inn was locked up, and it was eerie! I was served salt and pepper shakers that were so dirty (stained) they were brown in the corners. I wouldn't use them. The front landscaping needs work. You can hardly see the building through the untrimmed front yard. It appears that this place isn't getting the detailed attention it deserves. These are all things that could be fixed quickly and fairly easily. I am afraid the owner is dropping the ball on the details. My opinions are that it will stop being respected as a stellar bed and breakfast Inn. If something is deteriorating, it needs to be fixed and functional, even if it is small. People notice. I noticed. I really, really like this place and would love to see it brought back up to the standards it once was. I was moved to a new room and overall it was very comfortable and very clean, even though it still had issues (baseboard heater was falling apart and stains on the floor outside the shower, dings in the baseboard, needs new carpet. It made me question their prices if the Inn isn't being maintained. I used to be a real estate broker. I learned that buyers notice every flaw, even if only subconsciously. No matter how small or of little importance, it is noticed and remembered. Personally, I think there should always be someone there supervising the Inn. It shows dedication and attention to detail. Best wishes to The Inn at Depot Hill. I will watch reviews to determine if I will be back.

If you want to  eat together as a group,  you are out of luck. The kitchen is so incredibly tiny that they can only make two servings of pancakes/ waffles at a time. You are also not allowed to order breakfast before eight a.m. So if you have to get somewhere, you will need to skip your breakfast. Not that it is a big loss. Very uninspiring, non innovative breakfasts. One morning we got buttermilk pancakes with melted whipped cream and powdered sugar, the batter tasted like a cheap box version. The small cup of fruit was not fresh and only consisted of cantaloupe, honeydew and some green grapes. At least the 2 grapes were fresh. Also 2 sausages which we  replaced with turkey sausages; they were disgusting.  A glass of orange juice and a strong cup of coffee are the beverages. The other morning we got waffles. They were spongy without any crisp edges, lacking fluffiness, taste or berries.  Again, we got the same fruit, sausages and juice. The welcoming cheese and wine consisted of two bottles of wine for all the guests,  grapes, olives and  crackers, and cubed cheese (that you could buy in a local costco). Once the items were gone, they were not replaced. Again, very underwhelming . On the plus side, they did make cookies that were good. But the cookies are served later in the evening. If you are going for a great food experience, this is not it. The rooms are fine. If you're into history, you may enjoy it. However, please note that the only thing that discusses the history is 2 Typewritten  pages left in your room. No tour provided. There is nothing written on any supposed artifacts that explains what you are looking at furniture wise decorator wise or anything else . Convenience wise, I would say this is not the place you want to stay. Most rooms  have no new electrical outlets, so be sure to bring your cellphones with a plug for the old outlets. Also, lacking are any hangers. There is not enough light in the room if you want to apply your makeup. The library area is pretty small. There is no  conversational seating area.  The outside It's not really very inviting. There are some uncomfortable chairs and others with bird poop on them. I'm really not sure how this place receives high marks.  On the plus side, it is a close walking distance to the beach area. But you cannot see the beach. We are not sure how breakfasts received such high ratings from everyone. The four of us are not that picky. We have stayed at embassy, suites and Hampton inns and had  better breakfasts. This place is not a value for your money.  We recommend you spend less and get more elsewhere.  For sure, I would take away the B for breakfast. Yes you get a bed. Hope you like high pillows. All  all very disappointing.

Beautiful inn with a friendly staff and excellent food. Our room was clean, well decorated and fireplace was a bonus. It is walking distance to shoreline and village shops. Very quiet. Bed was a bit hard for my taste but my husband loved it. We will definitely be back. Capitola is a quaint town and a hidden gem

This place was amazing, very cute. I wasn't sure what to expect and it turned out to be my favorite place to stay. Our room was so comfortable and spacious. Service was top notch. The host was helpful, accommodating, and very friendly. The food was delicious. The host recommended a great restaurant and it didn't disappoint. I will be recommending this B&B to everyone staying in the area. I can't wait to come back and stay again. I loved everything about it.

Outstanding customer service by the owner! Sagar went out of his way to ensure our stay was perfect. It’s a beautiful property and in the heart of Capitola. Our room was elegant and yet cozy. The breakfast was excellent! We were here 20 years ago and we won’t wait 20 years to come back.

We celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary at the Inn. We have driven by it hundreds of times over the years and each time we were oblivious to its existence as we had our bag of goodies from Gayles and headed to the beach to indulge and watch the surfers! We are so happy we found the Inn and we plan to be back many more times. We were greeted in the driveway by Peggy who assisted us with parking our long vehicle. Our room was very spacious with the fireplace already on when we entered. The cheese and wine hour was a great social event sharing time with our fellow guests. Then onto Caruso's for dinner and when we returned freshly baked chocolate cookies were waiting for us! Breakfast was brought to the room on a cart and was delicious. Highly recommend this gem, especially for those who have been driving by for years!

This is our third trip to the Inn at Depot hill. It's always a pleasure. The rooms are unique, clean and comfortable. The owner, Sagar is super friendly, helpful and obliging. This is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area, to relax and unwind. Highly recommended. We will most certainly be coming back for more visits.
