Spent hours just fishing, on a canoe and relaxing with a picnic around the dam with family and friends ! Nice way to forget about work and life's stress for a few days ..

I've stayed in three Africamps and this was by far the best. The tent and amenities are the same (except there was no hot bath at this one), but of course each place is very different. The tents are nestled in the "bush" or slightly above, and this gives a feeling of intimacy and privacy. There weren't many people when we stayed, so it was very quiet (I guess it might be a bit noisier at the height of the holiday season) and we quickly moved from enjoying the pool to the dam. We just spent hours and hours there with the kids, it was magical. We hired an oar for the day which helped us to used the boats, the damn is quite small but it was nice to move around. The views are amazing and I'm sure the walks are lovely if you have the energy! I had expected there to be a hot tub, which I thought came with all Africamps, and there are two tents with hot tubs but my fault for not paying closer attention. However, with the dam who needs the hot tub! We loved our tent, number 4, and I think 3-5 tents and 8 onwards are the best bets (from 8 they are higher - good views, not necessarily better though). In terms of amenities, I do think they could provide one free bag of firewood, and also just be more generous with additional dishtowels, bowls and serving plates - it's all very basic and doesn't really meet the needs of 5 people when staying, so bring some extras when going is my advice, if you can. The little shop is useful and the site feels safe. On a very different topic - it felt striking to me from the brochure that there appears little diversity in the ownership of property of the farms signing partnerships with Africamps, an interesting insight into South Africa.

Definately one of the better places on our travels in South Africa. We had Nightjar chalet which is very spacious with everything you need. Location is stunning although you do have a rough road for 3km to get to it. Reception extremely friendly and helpful.

Incredible spot to relax and unwind Great luxury camping experience. The facilities are excellent, pool, shop and the cabins / tents have everything you need and are prepared for hot or cold conditions.

Excellent camp, bit noisy, pricey breakfast Overall we had an excellent stay, however a couple of things. Other guests didn't respect the no noise after 10 PM rule and were quite loud which made it very hard to sleep as obviously in tents like these you hear everything. Also, we were struggling to enter the property when checking in. We were supposed to use the code for the gate received by email, but we weren't able to check our email and we were stuck for half an hour, trying to call the emergency number to no avail. Luckily some other guests turned up at some point and let us in. I checked afterwards, we never received any email with the code for the gate. The staff was very friendly and very helpful though once we were inside. Breakfast basket pricey!

A single bed sized electric blanket in a double bed? A microwave oven out of reach on top of the fridge. A bathroom basin so high that I had to brush my teeth in the kitchen sink. A toilet squashed in between a giant bath and the shower cubicle - not enough space. The bathroom so squashed that one had to stand in the kitchen to dry oneself. To use the toilet during the night, we had to walk through the kitchen. An outside shower that splashed all over the decking - we did not use it. For the price one would expect a laundry list and prices - but no. We paid R250.00 for 8 garments to be washed and no, we were not buying a new washing machine. For the price, we also expected the cottage to be serviced daily but this came at an additional charge way above the hourly rate paid to the staff. A pensioners discount was advertised but we did not get it when booking on Nightsbridge and no effort was made to refund us. The much vaunted hot tub was filled with dubious-looking water. To use it, there was an additional charge for wood to heat the water. We have nothing but praise for the 5 other places we stayed at on our road trip. It is really sad that our stay in Robertson was so disappointing. We definitely won't be back.

We spent only one night here but it was a highlight of our trip to South Africa. The location is just amazing with beautiful views from everywhere in the reserve and especially from the deck of our tent. We went for a swim in the reservoir which was lovely and the kids had fun playing with boats. The tent itself is super well equipped and very comfortable with good beds and a powerful shower. We had both the brai and breakfast baskets and it was really fun to enjoy these on our deck. A magical place.
