Lovely gardens and views bit pretentious for us Big thing about fresh veg from the garden shame it is not cooked Travelling about the site in golf cart is not the best especially when they get taken by others when parked We found it difficult to contact reception by telephone and many of the trips were fully booked so our visit was left wanting Book before you go that’s the best I think Shame I was looking forward to this part of the holiday The mountain trip is well worth it

Lovely stay at a unique hotel The hotel is beautiful and the farm was gorgeous to walk/cycle around. Breakfast service to get a cup of tea was a little slow occasionally, one day waited 30 mins before we got the tea, then milk and then sugar. The food was all beautifully presented. We really enjoyed our stay but did not think it was good vfm.

Babylonstoren spa is not inexpensive but the pedicure treatment I had there was not at all up to the standard portrayed by this luxury hotel and winery. I have had better pedicures at Sorbet! The inside of the ladies lockers were shabby and looked old and needed a lick of paint. Not a good first impression. When we were completing our forms, there was a dead bird visible outside on the paving. I was offered slippers, for a pedicure. Surely you have disposable slops for a pedicure, as slippers would ruin the paint job on the nails. Then to my actual Pedicure, which was held in the room where everyone fills in forms, so there was no privacy and people came in and out during my pedicure, which was very distracting. I sat in an uncomfortable wicker chair and the many flies in the room were extremely irritating. I was told that the pedicure was being held in that room as all the treatment rooms were booked. Mine was not a last minute booking, I booked for myself and my clients weeks ago. My pedicure started 8 minutes late (and finished 7 minutes early… definitely not the full hour paid for). I was surprised there was no presoaking of my feet, none of the equipment used during the pedi was sterilized in front of me. The foot massage was nothing more than maybe 3 to 5 minutes, so disappointing for a spa of this calibre. I spoke to the manager and sent her an email about this which was never acknowledged. I would have thought that they would be happy to get constructive feedback.

A beautiful property that is a farm, vineyard and orchard. Everything we ate was delicious and the Carnivore dinner at the Old Bakery is a must. Do as many activities, that are included with your stay. Ask about their sister property that is a 18th century farm as well as the mountain pool. The farm/garden tour were very informative and the water buffalo outing is a must.

Heaven on earth Babylonstoren is like heaven on earth. It is so beautiful that you have to pinch yourself every day to make sure that you are not dreaming. The staff are all amazing and they take such pride in the farm and the hotel. All of the food is locally sourced on the farm itself or nearby and the quality and freshness was unbelievable. We were genuinely sad to leave and we promised that we would be back next year. If there is one place where you must stay in South Africa, then that is Babylonstoren - in fact it is probably the finest place we have stayed in our travels all over the world.

Extraordinary Extraordinary place. If you have any love of gardens, horticulture, farm-to-table food, or just general wholesome living then you will enjoy it here. The gardens and farm are not a performance - at over 2000 acres and something like 700 staff they somehow manage to seamlessly blend luxury with genuine production, and the variety is extraordinary. There is true vision behind this project.

Disappointing Our expectations were high of such a well know establishment. We found it first of all very crowded with day visitors everywhere. It was a rainy day and the result is that you can hardly walk to your room as nothing is paved. Our shoes were full of mud on arrival. Bathroom floor way too hot, very uncomfortable. Breakfast terrible. Bread is uncovered from 8 onwards, so if you arrive at 9 it’s all very dry. Fruit so big cut that it’s impossible to eat. Omelet was raw on the inside. Onion cut way too big and raw. We skipped the second nights breakfast and moved on to next destination. We definitely won’t return.
