I found the reception service lacking the usual expectations of previous stays. The room while comfortable could have done with curtains that didn't let light in. The bathroom was one the smallest I've ever encountered. You have a bath but not a shower due to the sloping ceiling over the bath made it impossible to stand in bath. No plug in the basin and basin hot water tap was just a trickle. On plus side bed extremely comfortable and good choice of tea and coffee in room.

Really lovely hotel with a great continental breakfast and friendly staff. The hotel itself gave a real sense of history and was perfectly located in the city centre which offered lots to do and plenty of places to eat and drink. Well worth a visit.

Great location, clean and simple. Rooms basic but fine. Some street noise but not too bad. Continental breakfast was fresh and a good range of options. Staff were nice. No food options but very close to lots of restaurants and bars! Not good if you have mobility constraints

Went in for the Pub Quiz on Sunday. Lovely atmosphere and good afternoon's entertainment. Bar selection was a bit limited and steep in price. Only a larger on draft, no ales on tap although the bottles were from local breweries, no soft drinks on tap only bottles so expensive for the little capacity. Food choices very limited only a couple of choices of crisps. Selection of gin was very good, and very much enjoyed! Will we be back to support the quiz? Of course but could not afford every week.

I stayed here on a Wednesday night hoping to get a decent rest after a long day at work and before an early start but this was completely ruined by an electric guitar group who, for some unthinkable reason, the hotel management have permitted to practice in the bar for three hours, going on bast 9pm. No excuse for this. Either you’re a live music venue or your a hotel, you absolutely can’t be both. I advise others to avoid at all costs.
