ABode Canterbury

This hotel is in a good location convenient to visit the famous tourist attractions.  However the bathroom is so tiny you can hardly turn around or space to put personal toiletry items.  There’s no Do not disturb sign, we got woken by by cleaner knocking the door around 9 ish very annoying.   Will not recommend this hotel.

Excellent attention to detail from the very pleasant Staff members They seemed happy to oblige - even over and above our requests. Nothing was too much trouble. We would certainly recommend the Abide Hotel, Canterbury to friend and family.

Major accessibility issues! Made by staff to feel like we were the problem, despite ringing ahead to check for any potential accessibility issues. Very narrow lift. Daughters standard self propelling wheelchair would not fit in, so would have been unable to access the rooms had we not had an electric wheelchair, which was narrower with us and the fact she could stand for short periods of time. Put in a room on the first floor where there was a further step to go up requiring us to have to ring down to reception every time we went anywhere to put down a portable ramp, despite there being other rooms where this additional ramp was not required. One time we were left to wait 10 minutes on the landing for someone to come up. No designated disabled parking. Very small car park behind hotel. Had to negotiate way to the front of the hotel over uneven camber and cobbles. No effort made to try and resolve the issue when we arrived. No apologies made or effort to compensate us for all the additional challenges we faced because of this. Absolutely no empathy from staff, except one person, the rest made us feel an inconvenience to them. Final straw was being told at check out we couldn't t get out of the car park because of a lorry blocking it off. What was supposed to be a pocket of magic for a young person adjusting to a life altering condition turned into an absolute nightmare. On the plus side beds were very comfy,room was nice once we could get in to it and the location was perfect!
