In September we stayed 2 nights for the amount of €392.70 We booked this cabin no. 19 because the pictures on the website looked good. Small but neat. Upon arrival it turned out to look terrible. Pieces of wood missing from the door frame, peeling paintwork, broken armrests of chairs, torn shower curtain. And... a sheet of asbestos (!) on the terrace. We contacted Patty and she confirmed that the cabins had to be replaced. Since the cabin looked much better in the pictures (old pictures) we asked for compensation. We did receive an answer with the question what we thought was a reasonable compensation. We then proposed the off season rate, but after repeatedly asking we received no more responses. Not even to the warning to remove the asbestos!! In short, very dissatisfied.

The room was terrible and at the end of the trip they told us to pick up the garbage 🗑 and open the curtains clean your dishes 😒 otherwise you get 35 $penalties. What kind of company tell you to pickup your own garbage 🗑

Terrible, avoid. I booked in Jan. 23, confirmed early June, and then they switched my cabin a day before our vacation started. Cabin 7 is a dump. I wrote a 21 item list for the owners. See attached

Just completed a 2 night stay with my husband. We were in need of a retreat for a a couple days and this cabin was the perfect spot. The staff we dealt with ahead of time was lovey and accommodating. This was exactly what we needed! Super cozy and felt like you were lost in the cabin in the woods. The weather also cooperated nicely by trying to snow us in which made it feel extra cozy. We had a 2 bedroom cabin with a living room and kitchen. The living room had a fire burning stove (our favorite feature). The bedrooms are super tight but the bed and pillows were surprisingly comfortable! Very quite as well. Parking right outside the cabin. Very clean interior. The kitchen comes with all the essential cooking ware. Our only reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that we feel some easy updates would make it much nicer. The furnace is in the living room and looks like it’s from the Middle Ages (although it worked great). And some general tidying up of the property. Also, it’s across the highway from Canmore and any hiking or cross country ski areas. Would have been nice to have things to do just outside the cabin. We would (and probably will) stay here again.

We stayed at Park Gate Chalets over New Years so we paid over $400/ night. We originally booked two separate cabins at the chalets beside but we really wanted to stay together in 1 cabin. The pictures they posted for the cabins at Park Gate Chalets is completely misleading and that’s one of the things that is so disappointing and sad. We don’t need elegant, we need clean and functional especially for the upcharge because of the Christmas/ New Year season. Dirty towel left behind the door, behind that same bedroom door was carpet that has never seen a vacuum. Taped up knives that likely originally were purchased at the dollar store then given to goodwill where the owners/ management of Park Gates took them back to supply a cabin with a full broken and taped up with electrical tape. Broken handle on the oven door so they just taped the stumps with electrical tape. You had to cross your fingers in hopes the light over the kitchen sink worked and then there was a light over the stove with a cord dangling everywhere. The door to access behind the shower was so unsafe should it had been children staying with us. Bedroom lamps with no shades. A picture frame with just a cardboard piece saying “fragile”. Handyman - NOT SO HANDYMAN work done around the tub and sink. The bath slip mat was black …..YES BLACK underneath. Check out the pic of the bottom of the tub stained because of that Matt! So likely never ever lifted?! Was the bathtub even cleaned? One evening a family was trying to leave to go out to eat. They were blocked in by a truck and SUV. So the husband and I knocked on doors trying to find the owners of these vehicles. WHO? Would block people in? Well didn’t it turn out to be the managers son and friend!! It’s ran by this manager as an AIR BNB so he is not on site. No one ensuring the condition or state of the cabins and grounds. Unfortunately there is very little care regarding this property.

We get old amenities. We get high season. What we don’t get are the following -dirty towels hanging behind bathroom door when we checked in; slip mat in the bathroom literally had fungus growing underneath it; kitchen stove is semi functional, filthy; pans, fry pans, etc beyond grubby and filthy; a carpet that should have been replaced years ago it’s so filthy; taped up kitchen knifes; all the dishes and pans felt greasy; kitchen sink tap is missing parts; bathroom sink has no stopper; the bathroom fan sounds like a 747 is flying through the cabin; did I mention the filth? We stayed four nights with friends over New Years and paid over $400 a night for this. They should be ashamed. On a positive note, the shower pressure is amazing. Wifi works. Do yourselves a favour folks, shop around. The pictures they’ve listed are not accurate.

Dreadful experience! Rented cabin for $200.00 per night for two nights. We really needed a rest and had stayed at Park Gate Chalets, some years ago and the cabin was clean and well cared for. This time around, we were told new owners and very sad to say, the cabin was disgustingly dirty, particularly in the kitchen. The 1st morning wanting to prepare eggs and no proper cutlery, we noticed all the pots and pans were filthy with dried food on each of the insides. The outsides looked as if never cleaned for years, The only cleaning item was an old torn sponge that was very dirty and no cleaning agents. Scant liquid soap and one could see this sponge full of bacteria had been used to clean the counters. No proper cutlery so had to improvise. No bowls for salad or potatoes just dirty pots. Oven hard to use as the regulator had pretty well lost its degree markers. Baseboards in bathroom very filthy and under bathroom sink. Bathroom window could not close and lock and told it had to be closed from the outside. Hmmm! Reported all this to the owner and told she would take off $100.00 from a bill over $400.00 and I said i thought we should have at least one free night because this experience ruined our stay completely, having to deal with all this over a two-day period and she has responded with dead silence. We are back home and very sad to have had to deal with a situation where we were disrespected. Stay away if you are concerned for your health and comfort.

Barbra Behiels 1/5 just now on Google Our experience with our 2 dogs was terrible. We were placed in cabin #20 initially- it felt like walking into a furnace. We were unable to cool the room with fans, as the only window with a screen had an opening at most 1foot x 2 foot. There was another slightly larger window, but with no screen, it could not be opened without dozens of mosquitoes entering the room. We were unable to spend any time in the room comfortably during the day due to the extreme heat. The cleaning staff we spoke to said they’ve been ignored when they repeatedly made management aware of the heat and ventilation issue in cabin 20. This is someone who spends max 30 minutes in the room while cleaning and finds it unbearable. It’s disgusting to expect paying customers to stay there. Clearly management is aware of the issue and chose to put us in cabin 20 regardless. The ventilation is absolutely not up to code (one tiny window with a screen that opens, one medium window without a screen that opens partway, another window in the bathroom painted shut). The loft space was unusable in the heat. We contacted Patty and Kristina with our concerns and were told that ‘the manager’ would not speak to us; they refused to refund us for the remaining 2 nights of our stay (we hoped to find alternate accommodations). They finally agreed to move us to cabin 18 which did have two larger windows on opposite walls that opened so we could get some ventilation. The heat was still oppressive but not uninhabitable like cabin 20. Cabin 18, though ventilated somewhat, was in a real state of disrepair. The bathroom door didn’t latch, the handle came off in my hand, the cabin’s floor was on a significant slant, it was ugly and bizarrely decorated with a motivational poster… It was evident that a sloppy coat of paint was recently applied in a weak attempt to mask some of the problems. Other guests arriving after us staying in cabin 17 were also dealing with windows without screens… It’s frustrating and disheartening that profit apparently comes before guest safety/ comfort at Park’s Gate Chalets. These cabins are rundown, hugely overpriced and worse, unsafe in warm weather.
