Barbra Behiels 1/5 just now on Google Our experience with our 2 dogs was terrible. We were placed in cabin #20 initially- it felt like walking into a furnace. We were unable to cool the room with fans, as the only window with a screen had an opening at most 1foot x 2 foot. There was another slightly larger window, but with no screen, it could not be opened without dozens of mosquitoes entering the room. We were unable to spend any time in the room comfortably during the day due to the extreme heat. The cleaning staff we spoke to said they’ve been ignored when they repeatedly made management aware of the heat and ventilation issue in cabin 20. This is someone who spends max 30 minutes in the room while cleaning and finds it unbearable. It’s disgusting to expect paying customers to stay there. Clearly management is aware of the issue and chose to put us in cabin 20 regardless. The ventilation is absolutely not up to code (one tiny window with a screen that opens, one medium window without a screen that opens partway, another window in the bathroom painted shut). The loft space was unusable in the heat. We contacted Patty and Kristina with our concerns and were told that ‘the manager’ would not speak to us; they refused to refund us for the remaining 2 nights of our stay (we hoped to find alternate accommodations). They finally agreed to move us to cabin 18 which did have two larger windows on opposite walls that opened so we could get some ventilation. The heat was still oppressive but not uninhabitable like cabin 20. Cabin 18, though ventilated somewhat, was in a real state of disrepair. The bathroom door didn’t latch, the handle came off in my hand, the cabin’s floor was on a significant slant, it was ugly and bizarrely decorated with a motivational poster… It was evident that a sloppy coat of paint was recently applied in a weak attempt to mask some of the problems. Other guests arriving after us staying in cabin 17 were also dealing with windows without screens… It’s frustrating and disheartening that profit apparently comes before guest safety/ comfort at Park’s Gate Chalets. These cabins are rundown, hugely overpriced and worse, unsafe in warm weather.
