Ardshiel Hotel

Just returned from three nights at the Ardshiel hotel in Campbeltown. The staff were great and went "the extra mile" to provide excellent customer service. Food was great as was the selection of Whiskies available in the bar. All in all, a great family run hotel that deserves to be successful in this corporate world. (Will be back)

We visited whilst on holiday. Our meals were extremely sub standard quality. I had fish and chips, and it was a thick greasy batter. It was served with very poor quality frozen chips. Wat is wrong with peeling a potato and making fresh chips? So disappointing. It was like going back in time 10 years ago. People are expecting food that is reflective in the price they are paying. Staff were all young school kids, apart from two older ladies who were watching from side lines. Definitely not worth the calories!!

I am reviewing the restaurant. The staff were amazing, and remembered us from a previous visit. Service was quite slow, but we have come to expect it in this restaurant. The food was only average - we both had fish & chips. Unfortunately they are now serving frozen chips, and the fish batter although crisp was quite greasy. I am only giving this a 3-star review because they are charging quite high prices for very average food. I just hope this review will be read and acted upon by the hotel because we do enjoy the Ardshiel when we are in Campbeltown.

A group of seven cyclists we were made to feel very welcome. Rooms were cozy and evening meal and breakfast were lovely and good value for money. Service was excellent and all our requests were satisfied promptly. If exploring the area I’d recommend a stay.

We ate here whilst in the area, on the recommendation of our host. The hotel is nicely decorated and immaculately clean, always a good start. Staff were very welcoming and showed us quickly to our table and offered drinks. The local Fyne IPA was as good as I've had, the SB wine was lovely too, nicely chilled. The menu was a wee bit limited, but as I was looking for a burger, it suited me fine. I had the Rob Roy beef burger. It was excellent with only 2 minor issues, the bun hadn't been toasted and the haggis inside was too much and made the whole thing a little soggy. The haggis bon bon on top was a much nicer eating experience. My eating partner had prawn salad and it was excellent We shared a panacea for desert, it was a delight, with a mango coulis and micro-mint as a topping. The whole meal was excellent overall and we will definitely return. The whisky collection is quite incredible, 550 bottles on display in the hotel, inc some very expensive vintages. Apparently there are over 5,00 more bottles within the business, this makes a return to the area inevitable
