Casa da Azenha

Garden hotel Beautiful garden hotel in a quiet area a few kilometers from the town of Peso da Régua. The room was comfortable with a good bed, and small bathroom. Breakfast was a bit weak. The only problem was the WiFi which went on and off, and when on was barely usable.

Memorable stay We stayed in Casa for two nights, Maria made it a very memorable stay, she arranged a wine testing and dinner reservation, made recommendations, she really goes extra mile for the guests to make experience unforgetable. Having said that, have to say the bed was uncomfortable, room spasious but outdated, really needs an update.

We were looking for a place to stay in the Douro Valley and found CA. Very charming with very nice and helpful staff. Maria checked us in and from there were well taken care of by the husband-wife team of Diogo and Alzira. Ginja (sp?), the little dachshund who patrols the grounds, was a cute touch. Great location to explore the Douro Valley. From here, we visited Lamego, Régua, and Pinhão. I would definitely return to this place.

Heaven, Paraiso, Cielo, in the heart of Duro Valley!!! Anna Marie and manager Maria welcomed us as family members and shared their beautiful garden, pool and country home, taking care of our every need including scheduling dinner reservations and wine tastings. A truely unique setting that we didn’t want to leave!!!

From our first greeting by Alzira and Diogo to our departing day breakfast we felt welcomed. Despite a language barrier, Alzira and Diogo gave us a warm introduction to the beautiful Casa and grounds and helped us get settled. Our room was cozy, comfortable and very clean. The breakfasts were great, including a homemade cake by Diogo, and one by Alvira two days later, fresh fruit from the garden was always included. On our first morning we met Maria, the manager who gave us a complete introduction and tour of the casa.She was warm, friendly, sincere and a wealth of information. We relied on her advice for visiting different areas as well as restaurants. We were never disappointed. Maria was our go to for anything we needed. Simply put, we would definitely choose Casa da Azenha if we were to return to the Douro valley Regua area, we loved it.
