We stayed for a wedding at Venachar Lochside, three of us so in room 6 which has a double and a single and was great for a three night stay. Rooms were good, USB charging points a welcome recent addition along with what seems to be a refurb of the hotel. We had a friendly welcome, the team were always attentive and helpful, providing umbrellas which we forgot to pack and digging out some sellotape for a minor emergency! Breakfast was exceptional, a great menu with lots of choice and a wonderful breakfast team in place. Would stay again if we’re back this way in future.

Stayed here for one night in a Deluxe Suite and were allocated Room 1, overlooking the garden. The room was lovely with everything you need. It had some welcome extras such as Tunnocks Caramel Logs to have with your cuppa, and USB sockets at each side of the bed for charging devices. The bathroom was outstanding with its large shower and separate stand alone bath, and the dressing table with hairdryer were appreciated too. We understand that there were new owners recently and we wish them the best with this lovely wee place. The manager was very helpful on our arrival telling us the dinner and bar times, and although we didn't eat there, the reviews for the restaurant are very good and there's a cosy wee bar area too. I may also add that when we were there, there were a lot of bikers in town. Not sure if there was something on or if this is a normal occurrence. They seem to gather at the opposite end of town from this hotel, so if you're looking for a quiet place to stay this is it! It took us only 10 mins to walk into the main area but well worth it to avoid the noise from the motorbikes.

Slightly nervous when I saw the road signage which should be replaced by something more up to date, but I shouldn’t have been. The interiors are very elegant and our room 9 was spacious and comfortable. It was however up steep narrow steps and would be tricky for anyone with limited mobility. It was facing the main road so there was some traffic noise, but not too bad. We ate our dinner at the restaurant and the quality was good and service was excellent. It is a slight shame as there are warm, inviting sofas downstairs but it didn’t look as if the bar was fully set up so we went somewhere else for a pre dinner drink. Choices for breakfast were extensive and again the food was high quality, slightly disappointed there was no buffet for the non hot items, but a very minor matter. The price point for the quality of this hotel is very competitive and I’d definitely come back.

I originally picked this hotel as I was specifically looking for overnight work accommodation, with EV destination charging available. This site has two Tesla (software locked) chargers and one 'Electric Vehicle' charger (white labelled). Unfortunately on arrival the non-Tesla charger had a fault, even after Gary and I tried multiple times to get it started. Fortunately there is a ChargePlace Scotland rapid and dual 22kW post down in the town (10-15 min walk) so I was able to get charged up by 10pm. Lauren and Gary are going to get their electrician to see whether these can all be brought back on-line and software unlocked (like JW Lee Brewery has done down in the NW England). Have three chargers available would prevent any anxiety that the charger maybe broken, or in use upon arrival, as I need to fully charge before the morning to ensure hassle free motoring to my clients. The room was modern, comfortable and spacious with everything I could possibly need for an overnight stay. The evening meal was fantastic and amazing quality, and I only wish I was staying more than a single night. The breakfast was slightly disappointing for me personally, as I didn't enjoy the thin, water porridge - I personally like creamy jumbo oat porridge with milk. This information I passed onto Lauren in the morning. Gary & Lauren were amazing hosts, where nothing was too much trouble. They were so kind, friendly and helpful. I will be returning to Scotland in the near future, and if they can get the EV chargers working then I hope to use this as my Scottish base in the future, as I hate moving from hotel to hotel.

We’ve just arrived back home after a truly wonderful 2 nights stay B&B. Everything about our stay at the Abbotsford Lodge was outstanding and it couldn’t have been any more pleasurable than it was. From the moment we arrived, with the extremely warm welcome from the absolutely delightful owner Lauren to all the most attentive staff throughout our stay at both the Abbotsford Lodge and their other owned hotel the Crags Hotel. They have very spacious rooms with a very good standard of decor throughout to make you feel extremely comfortable and at home. The breakfast was first class and our evening meals at the Crags Hotel on the 2 nights were outstanding too with their Valentines Menu which was very simple, but exactly right and not over complicated. The owners have done an amazing job with the Abbotsford Lodge and I truly think that once the restaurant opens in March they will be a force to be reckoned with and a very popular place to book! I would very much recommend this hidden gem for a wee getaway, you most certainly won’t be disappointed. Thank you for a truly wonderful stay, we will most certainly be back again soon.
