The location is nice by the river, however the site facilities could do with some TLC. Would also be nice if the on site shop was a bit better stocked.

1st night in Scotland and thought it a good idea to stay in a campsite with our van. Rude, disinterested, dirty, unhelpful are the words that come to mind and sadly seem to be reflected in other reviews. It’s in a lovely setting but not welcoming at all.

This site is situated in a fantastic location, it has direct access to the loch via the river that you can paddle down, that about ends the good points. I stayed here a few years ago and can't believe how downhill the site has gone. Checking in the warden was verging on rude, the facilities are...to be honest filthy and the park itself uncared for. Not somewhere I would return.

The site is fine. Lovely views of the hills and right on the river. A short walk to the village with a great cafe and then the steep hike up Ben Sheean. Found the wardens quite abrupt and bordering on rude. They shouted at the children for playing in the river. And reprimanded us for talking the wrong path into the village….how were we to know it was private if there were no signs?? Toilets were clean enough, but a bit tired. Shop didn’t open till 10am on the Sunday - night ideal when you need milk. Don’t think I’d go back.

We experienced the flood over the weekend and can not praise the site enough the 2 men had all caravans off to a safe area within less 2 hours. They did this effectively and with no fuss. Thanks to the site and the men. Catherine and Patricia.

Used to visit this campsite years ago when Emma and her family ran it and it was a pleasant place to come to..just had a weekend there and omg it’s went downhill..owner is not friendly, has no customer skills whatsoever, shop is only open from 1 till 4..no morning rolls or anything..didn’t notices a sign saying to ring a bell if closed and we chapped her van door and she was not happy at all and made us feel, very uncomfortable….please sell this site to someone who will actually be professional and make the most of the beautiful surroundings..is sad to see it like it is after many happy family holidays there with the previous owners who I may add would do anything for u…avoid at all costs!!!!!!!

Dirty campsite with a lot of rubbish lying around. Toilet and shower block also dirty. Welcome was poor. Despite paying in advance for three nights, we drove away to find somewhere cleaner and were happy to lose our money.. Not what we expected and we would absolutely not recommend the site

We booked to camp here for a weekend in May, had booked in a bit of a rush due to most other campsites being full. After booking I came across all the bad reviews and thought it may be the only reason it had availability so was extremely worried about our stay. That said we had a great weekend. Is the campsite the best I have been on...no, but it certainly isn't the worst either. The people complaining about getting asked to leave and asked to follow the rules are likely the sort of people that I detest sharing a campsite with anyway, you know the entitled kind that let their kids run riot and party till the early hours. If you are a respectful camper and follow the rules I don't think you have anything to worry about. Maureen the woman who runs it is not the warm and fuzzy type but she was pleasant enough and helped when we had any queries. The booking system was a bit old fashioned in that it was all done by email but it was straight forward enough, it likely just puts people off that want convenience of being able to book and pay online. The campsite itself was situated in a lovely setting, the views of the hills, the river running right next to your tent and the location near to Callander were all fantastic. It is also close to Loch Lubnaig with access down the river or down a lovely walk along the river bank. The only thing that really lets it down slightly are the outdated toilets, with the showers that take a 20p peice, most modern campsites have done away with these. Again however, the shower was excellent, very warm and good pressure, with hooks on the door and a small stool to keep your things off the floor, the only thing missing was a shower curtain to stop your things getting splashed. There is also free fishing along the river bank that is owned by the campsite, we took advantage of this and it was a beautiful spot to relax and fish. We never caught anything but others did and from the amount of fry you could see it was a healthy river indeed. Would I return...yes I probably would, as we did enjoy our stay, although if it had been a bit more modern I would be returning sooner. One last thing, take a walk along to the Broch Cafe for breakfast, it was excellent
