Red Roof Inn & Suites Calhoun

Check-in at this motel was quick and uneventful. But when we arrived at our room, the key did not work. It took two walks to the office to finally obtain a workable key. They were short walks. We loved parking right in front of our room. The place was very quiet. The room was big, but had one minor problem. The chair for the computer table blocked others from moving around the room. Lighting, wifi, electrical outlets - excellent. Breakfast in the morning was sub-standard. Pool not open.

First, as my title states, this one night stay met our price point as we were traveling back home from FL to TN. When I heard we had been put in their 2nd building I initially was concerned but despite being more remote from the front office still felt safe. Although nothing flashy, the room did meet all the necessary check marks. Loved the blackout shades….(Clean comfortable bed, hot shower with decent water flow, cold fridge, and operating tv and lights). The 2 biggest drawbacks: wife was brushing her teeth when a huge spider came out from somewhere and really freaked her out and although it is normal for an HVAC unit to make noise when the AC compressor kicks on to maintain the set temp, this one was very loud and needs replaced…room 303. Lady at check in wasn’t rude but could have been more welcoming. Due to these later issues, we are reluctant to return again. Good luck fellow travelers!

The lobby area was a nice introduction to the hotel. However, the room was a bit of a disaster. The bed was damp, the toilet ran all night, and the mini fridge condenser is going out while making loud noises all night. When I called for assistance I was asked if I had tried to flip the mattress. There were also no additional blankets available. No assistance with the issue, no compensation for the inconvenience, and no sleep on a long trip.
