Casa Dos Reis

Villas (2) are located away from the town, in a quiet cul-de-sac. A view of the ocean and surrounding villages is of extraordinary beauty. We lived in a 2 bedroom villa. Perfectly equipped and tastefully decorated. There was absolutely nothing missing. Spacious, comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen, an outdoor barbecue, a very nice and large swimming pool and sun loungers with fantastic views, surrounded by amazing nature. There were no deficiencies in our group of 3 individuals. It was the best place we had stayed in Madeira, and maybe even anywhere else in the world). We just want to point out that the place is away from shopping and cafes, restaurants. There are no large supermarkets nearby (there are some small shops, some even within walking distance, but walking to them can be a challenge for somebody, and assortment is quite limited). So, in our opinion, a car is simply necessary or you should take care about provision in advance. All places of interest (you can walk to levada Nova, but you will have to sweat to climb to it) are also only accessible by car. Do not trust Google when choosing a route, as it will lead you to the shortest route (which often means a very steep and / or narrow road). By the way, road to the villas is also very steep (here is a feature of all of Madeira).

I stayed at Paula's beautiful villa with my 3 teenage boys and we were not disappointed! Our villa was spacious (we had the 3 double bedroom one with large terrace, BBQ, grass area) and fully equipped. For self catering accommodation to have beach towels (as well as bathroom ones), toiletries, toilet paper, washing machine (including powder), dishwasher (including tablets) was generous and a real bonus. We were greeted by Paula who had thoughtfully laid out delicious snacks, bottles of wine and water for our arrival gone 10pm. Paula is an amazing host, friendly, attentive and helpful. Any questions were answered quickly and recommendations freely given. Free off road parking within a gated area. We had hired a car from airport and Casa dos Reis has been an ideal base to explore all around the island. We really enjoyed chilling around the villa and pool, it really is a perfect setting with comfortable and plentiful seating...and the view, oh the view, I never tired of looking out over the terracotta topped rooftops towards the sea and horizon. Stunning any time of the day or night! We highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to return 😎
