The Shakespeare Deluxe Hotel and Caribbean Restaurant Halifax

The hotel is ideally situated in the heart of Halifax. The room and ensuite bathroom were generously spacious, offering a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The room exuded character, creating a unique and memorable experience. The staff, characterized by their friendliness and chattiness, contributed to the overall warmth of the stay. Their engaging manner added a personal touch to the hospitality. A noteworthy addition to the hotel was the Caribbean restaurant, which proved to be a delightful culinary highlight. The goat curry, in particular, stood out as a truly amazing dish. Despite the hotel's cuisine being closed on December 31st, the staff went above and beyond in their service. They graciously refunded our breakfast and directed us to a nearby breakfast venue, ensuring that our dining needs were not only met but exceeded. This level of customer care added a commendable touch to our stay.

Absolute Gem of a hotel , lovely hotel room very clean excellent cocktails and the most welcoming and friendly staff and the most amazing food , five stars wouldn’t be enough for this place simply amazing

On arrival was told the room was double booked by ***********. Load of rubbish, see previous reviews.The manager told us to try an alternative hotel, the receptionist at this hotel said it happens constantly , the Shakespeare accepts bookings then accepts a better price for the room & tells you it’s double booked. This is the manager I’m talking about. Save yourself the worry, book elsewhere. Not worth the risk!

I was greeted by the manager Joseph who was very helpful and welcoming. We were booked in very promptly and left to sort out our things. The room was spacious and packed with amenities for our convenience the bed was comfy. We had drinks at the bar in the evening and nothing was too much to ask the staff. Breakfast was laid out ready in the morning and was very nice. We had our evening meal at their Caribbean restaurant and it was amazing very well made and tasty. Service was 10/10. The only downside was parking however this is in no way the hotels fault due to location.

The most comfortable bed ever. Absolute dream. The manager was attentive and kind. We had a 'small double' which I thought would be too small for a couple but it was fine, we slept like logs. For a little town centre hotel, it's good. Location is fantastic for the Piece Hall, we were there for a gig and it was amazing to be walking distance from the hotel. View out the back of the hotel isn't that nice, view over the front is better. Other people had booking problems the weekend we were there, better to book direct, they do seem to have issues with the booking system. We booked a full English breakfast but they were only offering continental. The manager sorted us out with a full English breakfast which we really appreciated. Next time we will check out the Caribbean food, looks great.

Avoid at all costs!!! Avoid this place and dont book via **********, they double book the rooms then charge you again or send you away! We were charged 120 for a makeshift room next to the main door that had no facilities and a half glazed door that let all the light in from the hallway all night so had to use sheets to try and block the light out! And no, toast and rice crispys does not constitute a "continental breakfast!" Three others were turned away while we were there due to "double bookings!" So how do we get our money back that we paid originally for the room? I've no doubt they pocketed that too
