Very average. Someone knocked on the door in the middle of the night.

The girl on reception was pleasant. That's the only good thing I can say about this place. Cars with broken glass and no number plates in the car park. Lots of long term tenants. Rubbish in the stair well, writing and graffiti on the stairs walls. The room was really really old, rust on the bath, chipped 1960 wood and just grimy. After 10 minutes, I returned to reception and handed them the key. Couldn't wait to get out of there. It didn't feel safe and I had a bad feeling about the place

I booked a stay at the Tropical Queenslander in a 2 bedroom family room. The photos shown on the website were not remotely matching reality. I expected a dated hotel room that was passable… instead it was feral and terrible. There was wet soap sludge in the shower, which also had mouldy grout and holes in the tub. There were marker stains on the doors, cracked walls, chipped paint. The lounge was a folding table and chair. There was wet grim along the kitchen counter. We arrived after check in and left early the next morning, so there was no one to complain to. We literally slept and left, without showering. I cannot believe that I was charged $180 for a nights stay. I would never stay there again! On top of it all, I got bitten by bed bugs there and am now full of itchy red spots!!

Well Flight Centre should take this place off their books. Definitely not recommended. We asked for a 2 bedroom apartment for 4 adults and you could hardly move in the place. Breath in to walk past someone. No privacy between the bedrooms, could of at least had a sheet curtain to seperate one of them from the main living area. Window curtains missing a lot of their hooks to shut the curtains, the fly screen wouldn’t lock. Asked where the hot plates were to cook..Ha Ha under the bench in the cupboard. Fans either flat out or not at all. Towel rails broken off wall, tap handle shower kept falling off due to missing screw. No even enough seats in room for everyone to sit down. It even enough cutlery or dinner plates for 4 people when that was what the room was booked for. Mould. No seating around pool, could have easily put a few table and chairs around the pool. We asked if we could move into room next door as soon as we found out this was becoming vacant, they actually had a dining table. Woo Hoo. Just please do some general maintenance around the place, a bit of paint and refresh, it’s not that hard. Spoke to a lot of others staying there and they were of the same opinion, we would have moved somewhere else but everything booked full.

This is the worst motel I have ever seen. I walked out with no reimbursement as the place is filthy dirty and feels very unsafe. I would not even my dog there. The place was a sight to be seen. The room is so outdated and has rust in the shower recess, the security door did not lock, the key was bent and the general look of the outside was terrible. Graffiti on the walls!

Never having booked accommodation online, I was unsure where to book. Trying to find a package deal through Webjet where a room included facilities to accommodate a family preparing meals for a week long stay, I booked here. The staff are lovely and very accommodating and the rooms sufficed for a place to stay, albeit very basic and somewhat rundown. We were able to make basic breakfasts and lunches. Unfortunately at the time of our stay the other local residents staying in the complex made sleep almost impossible with fighting and yelling for hours at a time throughout the entire night and early hours of the morning. I would not recommend a stay if you have children. It is also on the northern side of town, so most things are about 2km from entertaining children/shops and will require transport with little people.

The mattress on the single bed were terrible disgusting stained. Cupboards were falling apart Shower was not cleaned properly rusted. Had 2 chairs and a table outside your room but the next door room was sitting outside your room. Not soundproofed. Was to stay 4 nights but we left after 1 night.

I phoned up to book a room as I lived at that address, 287 Lake Street in 1982 when it used to be a very friendly gathering house and thought I would reminisce while checking out Cairns. I was expecting the normal "Hello" Sue (or something) speaking can I help you. I gave my name and asked who I was speaking to, no reply except "do you want to book a room" I said yes and what is your name, no reply, no "why do you want to know " nothing. I briefly explained my social reason for wanting to know her name, again total ignorant reply "Do You Want To Book A Room" I replied for the 4th time "yes" can I speak to the manager, please. 10 times she asked if I wanted to book a room but refused the common decency to say her name. Then she hung up the phone. Then I wrote this review. The rest of the negative reviews make perfect sense as there was absolutely zero care or concern for me as a potential willing guest, I was imagining the anti hospitality if I actually stayed there.

Worst place I have ever seen in my life. We were in there a full 30 mins, and only to rearrange our accommodation. Go to reception, locked. Says to call number on the door, but no number was left. Fortunately I was able to use mobile data to get the number and call with no charges. Found we had to get our key card out of a safe, with multiple other envelopes - god knows who had access to our key and possibly copied it. Get the the room and it’s just filthy, I have never experienced anything like it. At the moment we knew we needed to find elsewhere, as we fled extremely unsafe and couldn’t stay in an unclean room. To top it off, there is no safe offered in the room which secured our fears of being in the room, and leaving our valuables there. We booked via British Airways so was under the impression we didn’t need to read reviews, as BA had 3.5/4 stars and the images looked lovely, but never again!
