The man on reception was very helpful I had 3 room changes with 2 young children as telly broke in first room put in 2nd room and it smelt of sewage and the double bed was broken matress springs had gone I was the given the 1st room back and they gave me a telly on a huge stand that stood on the floor.Slept OK went for breakfast the carpets were so dirty leading into conservatory and the kitchen. The owner decided to strim the grass right outside the conservatory while we tried to eat our breakfast left most of breakfast as it was so noisy. Milk was on table before we got there don't now how long it was there. It was worse than faulty towers never again.

Our room was very disappointing- sadly everything was really in need of an update. The carpets were grubby, wall paper dated, ripped and poorly patched up, the beds were flimsy, the bathroom was very dated and standing in the bath for a shower felt flimsy. There was a different floor level half way across room, which felt liable to collapse. The thinness of walls and age of beds surely contributed to hearing excess noise of neighbours. The staff were all- without exception lovely and helpful, so it’s a shame that the hotel feels so run down.

We had our wedding at this hotel, including pre wedding dinner, ceremony and reception. We cannot thank Kathy and all the staff enough for what was a perfect weekend. All the food was lovely which was reiterated by many of the guests. Elis was super at ensuring that we all had everything that we needed whilst at the reception and bar. The domestic staff helped us and went over and above in help organising our wedding and admin. I would highly recommend this venue for a wedding. We absolutely loved our weekend. Thank you to you all. Aled and Donna

Sunday lunch 3rd time I have tried this , gets worse every time Although we booked we waited half an hour in a queue to get our carvery , when we got to the front of the line half the options were empty and what was there was over cooked No organisation, no staff member talking to anyone in the queue Shabby interior, too hot, not worth even the competitive prices Will not be going again

Business traveller. I booked this hotel for the room service and views overt the golf course to the sea. Unfortunately I had neither. I was emailed on check day to say kitchen would not be open in the evening, I could deal with that, but gave little time to rearrange accommodation as a solo female traveller. So went hoping the surroundings and hotel would make up for it. Sadly not. The room was very dated with evident damp issues, wall paper was hanging on for dear life. Condensation internally on windows in June…speaks volumes. Bed was lumpy, and mattress very dipped. Could be such an amazing place. young lad on reception was friendly, but really needs some tlc. It was clean, but floors and beds so creaky, and you can see where they are just patching it all up. Real shame as was looking for a good priced regular stay over for work.

What a dreadful attempt at an afternoon tea! Not as advertised and when queried was told it was the ‘old menu’ - that said they couldn’t provide the new one!! Aside from the cheap bread and margarine which tasted like a soggy napkin - their equivalent of smoked salmon and cucumber is tuna mayo and the coronation chicken is non existent! Their attempt at chicken goujons resembled the chicken strips in a fast food chain! Cake anyone? Oh dear what can I say about the cakes - they were so manufactured I don’t think they have a sell buy date! Far from the bara brith and trifle advertised. And at a cost of £30 - The Ashburnham Hotel are in the business or ripping people off! Verdict: avoid!

Very disappointed Sunday carvery. The Mushroom Welling was more like a Chinese spring roll.....normally the Mushroom Wellington is wonderful and full of mushrooms and cranberries with a delicious crusty pastry. But last Sunday was dire. I couldn't eat it. It was full of bits of veg and no mushrooms and the pastry was horrid. It had a spicy taste. Also I wasn't given vegi gravy. My partner and I agreed the gravy was awful, it was so thick and tasteless. But service was great, the staff are brilliant. Shame about the food, can't understand what's happened there.

Family visit for Sunday lunch. Really warm welcome. Friendly & efficient waiter took our drinks order. Had the carvery, which was lovely. Nice touch offering a baby bowl (£3) of carvery items as the little one doesn’t eat much. Loads of meat, just all really tasty. Definitely one of the best carveries around, will definitely me making a return visit.
