Old Downton Lodge

A truly beautiful calm and relaxing hotel. From the outside it is stunning and is situated within the pretty Downton Estate. The bedrooms are superb and full of character. The owners Pippa and Wilem are very friendly and all the staff are excellent. The food is superb and we will certainly go again. Highly recommended.

A most wonderful experience. We had been gifted an overnight stay complete with 6 course taster menu. Attention from staff was second to none; accommodation was unique, comfortable, & with great attention to detail; lounge area warm and relaxing; food was nothing short of amazing and we opted for the "wine pairing" too and so enjoyed little known wines which complemented each course. Excellent nights sleep; breakfast choice again extensive & delicious. Would love to think that we could return one day.

Fabulous food, gorgeous accommodation and great staff as always. This is the fourth time we have stayed and eaten in the restaurant- food is always excellent & the service is also wonderful. The tasting menu was incredibly flavourful and excellent presentation. We will return !

Five star A hidden gem along a trail of lanes. Rooms, food and service of the highest standard. Not the cheapest, but excellent value and well worth it.

Beautiful Old Lodge in Stunning Countryside Beautiful renovated house and farm buildings dating back to the sixteenth century. Our room (2) was on the upper floor above the courtyard with high vaulted rafters and stone interior. Superb lighting options, excellent comfortable bed, two seater sofa, tea and coffee and wardrobe with plenty of hangers in the bathroom. It felt high quality and spacious. The bath was excellent with a rain shower over the bath. We went in winter but the courtyard had plenty of seating in little garden areas which would be lovely on a summer's day. The hotel lounge and dining room was excellent with the latter feeling like a grand small room in an elegant castle. Both dinner (tasting menu) and breakfast were first class. The area is remote (15 minutes from Ludlow) with some challenging driving in back lanes but it is stunning, offering lovely walks in the better weather. We felt well looked after and would not hesitate to return.

Absolute must! Beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. Great restaurant, bar and room and fantastic service. Tasting menu was a real treat and well worth it.
