The food was excellent, the burger, chilli beef starter and pork belly the highlights. The kids ate for free so all in was reasonable value. The reason for only three stars is the service. We’re usually very tolerant with these things but this was as bad as it gets, it wasn’t busy but constantly waiting for drinks and left waiting for 45 mins after finishing our meal despite asking several times for a waiter,

The good The location, accommodation, hotel facilities and bar areas and large car park are all great We found the staff to be friendly enough although it seemed that there were staff shortages at times impacting service levels The not so good The service and food in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner varied from good to awful – and was very inconsistent. Much better training is needed amongst the serving staff and in the kitchen. If you address these issues you have a very good hotel – without that it is very average.

A really pleasant stay. Very friendly welcome and service. Room very spacious and quiet. Beautiful bathroom but I found although there was a great level access shower, there were no handles for support and the general flooring didn’t feel non-slip. I enjoyed the food very much indeed and service was excellent. The menu was comprehensive. Would return.

The Briarfield Hotel and room No 12. A wonderful hotel. First impression was " what a find"! I have travelled a lot in the UK and I was really impressed. Comfortable accommodation, great food, lovely staff and excellent location. Marvellous. A second visit on the cards without a doubt.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 days towards the end of August. Considering it was still school holidays in England, it was not that busy. The room was fine. The fan in the ceiling was not working but this was not a great inconvenience. The rainshower is excellent and easy to control. Food in the restaurant was good but there was too much emphasis on fried food. My suggestion is that the restaurant explores the possibility of serving grilled rather than fried fish. Also they should explore locally made real pies which should make it easier for the kitchen plus it can help more customers with food intolerances/preferences. Would I stay here next time I come for birdwatching in North Norfolk? Most definitely yes. This hotel could not really be nearer to the Titchwell RSPB reserve, unless it was within the reserve itself.

A wonderful stay in a lovely location near the coast. Food was fantastic my whole stay and all staff could not have been more helpful in handling my dietary requirements (dairy-free and gluten-free) - loads of options, all high quality and no stress involved. Will return asap and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing stay with family or friends in a wonderful part of Norfolk with brilliant food.

After some hit-and-miss meals in 'foodie' pubs along the coast, this time we chose to go more upmarket. And we're very glad we did. Food, service and ambience were all spot on. Tomato soup and king prawns for starters were both good. For mains, the pork belly was beautifully tender, and the beef brisket in bbq sauce was delicious. For dessert, the summer strawberry tart was tasty but light. A nice selection of wines, and we both enjoyed glasses of the Italian red Primitivo. The children's menu was good value with bigger portions than you sometimes get elsewhere. Very friendly staff who were knowledgeable about the food on the menu. Not cheap, but also not that much more than we had been paying elsewhere for pub meals. Would definitely like to return.
