Very pleasant hotel a suitable distance from the newer part of Hunstanton, but still easily walkable. On site food at the hotel and the Mariner next door was nice and reasonably priced. The 'Wash beach' was 100m from the hotel and easily accessible. All in all a nice peaceful place.

First off, I don't think it's worth a 4* rating. Maybe 3.5* but then again you have to think about where you are. There is a lot of good to be said: I basically love this place. I came here alone just as a way to get some headspace it's ticked every box for that. The room is large and basically furnished but with pretty good stuff. The decor is inoffensive and neutral, no nasty post-war carpets or any of that. The bathroom is pretty swish and for some reason has two sinks. Cute. The bed is THE most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, and my mattress at home cost over a grand. Amazing. I can see the sea from my window (ground floor rooms have a little outside area which do open out on to the car park, which is a slight downer but the upper floors don't have balconies so you pick). It's about two minutes to the beach (with actual sand). And of course Hunstanton is a short walk (albeit not an especially interesting one) away. Down sides: Like everywhere in this neck of the woods it is about 50 years behind the times if not more. There are a fair few Americans about and I would imagine they'd call it "quaint." I think it's outdated in terms of the building itself (not the rooms). For a supposed 4* hotel it doesn't help the national image... There is no a/c. Again, just a sign of being behind the times but in such a huge building I imagine this would be a nightmare to Parking is tight on spaces. They try to control it but there was only one space when I arrived. You have to give your name to a geezer who controls the main beach parking to get in but he's a nice enough bloke. Speaks plainly. If you don't like that you'll find him rude. The bar staff are a bit iffy. Not that they aren't nice people but it's obvious bar duty is not a dedicated role and they don't know how to make cocktails. And finally, and this isn't a criticism of the hotel but just the antiquated nature of English seaside places: You won't find good food anywhere. But what there is, is relatively cheap and cheerful. 11/10 would come again if I had the disposable income to splash £200 a night on a room. I do think it's a bit overpriced. But I've enjoyed myself. Thank you, Strange Arms for a decent stay.

Used the allocated car park for a day out at the beach, we asked how much it cost and if there was any spaces left, the bloke in charge of it came to our window and stared me down, pointing, "LOOK AT THE SIGN, YEAH? READ THE SIGN." I looked round, then back at him, he then repeated 'READ. THE. SIGN." with a nasty look on his face. There were 4 of us in the car and we were just silent in disbelief at how disgustingly he spoke to us. I bit my tongue, and told him no, we're not parking here. As we left we saw him doing the same thing to other people trying to park. I read some much older reviews on here and I can see that others have experienced this too, so obviously nothing has been done about it. To the hotel manager - I'd strongly suggest relieving this man of his job, as he's clearly not happy with it.

Lovely views , right in front of beach, room very warm, and fan really noisy, and nowhere suitable to put it , unless on bedside cabinet where it was like a gale blowing . Wallpaper peeling off wall which you do not expect at prices paid . Did not eat in hotel, ate in restaurant next door , some really good staff, but some of the younger ones need a bit of training in Customer Services

Great weekend stay for a wedding. Lovely outside vibes and one of the best sunset locations around. Mix of hotel guests separate party guests and wedding guests wasn’t ideal, especially with a slow bar service, but staff were friendly and helpful throughout. In terms of the hotel, they are currently doing the carpets so some “building” work but nothing to moan about. An older style hotel with some modern touches. Younger couples easily fit in here alongside the older clientele.

Had a lovely stay here in a sea facing room, staff all friendly, breakfast was filling and a good variety Hotel bar has a very small selection of draught drinks and not particularly up to date ones Would have given 5 stars bit communal areas and rooms looking tired and dated, just a lick of paint would work wonders That said would definitely stay again

Without doubt the best location you can wish for, for a coastal break in North Norfolk. Staying here you are investing in the views and location ... the hotel itself is old and in need of a bit of modernisation but very clean none the less. We stayed during a heatwave and the rooms were very stuffy, but if you are looking for a base for staying in the Norfolk coast its ideal. The views are not talked about enough here, and the short walk to the beautiful sandy beach!! I have attached some pics as I don't believe the current ones do it justice! Definitely worth staying if you don't mind a slightly more basic room and facilities in the hotel. Pub on site is handy though!

We stayed for 3 nights and, having lived in the area many years ago, this was a ‘trip down memory lane”. The hotel is very old, worn and could do with an upgrade. The room was clean but very old fashioned. There were toiletries attached to the bathroom wall but no facial tissues provided. The clientele were mostly elderly couples. The breakfast was average with a little fruit, yoghurts and toast. A cooked full English was available to order. We didn’t eat in the Hotel Restaurant as we wanted local fish and chips the first evening. We ate in The Mariners on our third evening. Would we return? No, we prefer more modern facilities. We paid £504 for the 3 nights B and B.

Very old Hotel and kitted out as such. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is rated 4* but 3* would be more appropriate. Our room, 115, was a fair size, clean and well equiped with Tea and Coffee, biscuits etc. The Shower was very good but the en suite was let down by there being no extract fan and no toilet brush. A good sized TV with a fair selection of channels. Breakfast was very good, with a full house plus toast on offer plus the usual fruit juice and muffins. It was nice to be served breakfast instead of the all to usual buffet. The Hotel bar was not great. Only one draught beer, J Smiths, and that was too cold for bitter. The Ancient Mariner was a better choice for drinks and provided a good dinner menu with a fair choice. All in all, worth 3 Stars not 4. A fair amount of money would need to be spent to bring it up to todays 4 start standard and the resultant increase in room rate would probably put people off.
