The Hoste and the Vine House Hotels

We stayed as quite a large family group, including 5 young children and 4 dogs in 4 separate rooms. Our stay was lovely, the children enjoyed the games lounge and popcorn in the cinema. We ate dinner both evenings, the food was nice especially the Sunday roast. It’s such a beautiful setting we would definitely choose to visit again.

We have stayed at the Hoste on a number of occasions now but recently stayed for our Wedding which was also held at the Hoste. I cannot recommend highly enough. From the minute you walk in and you’re greeted with smiles and such a warm welcome which we received especially from Kylah who could not have made us feel anymore at home and looked after, to the moment you enter your room with such a calming and lovely atmosphere with their attention to detail for the decor and comfort in the bedding and pillows and the effort the cleaning staff put in to make it feel brand new, to the most amazing kitchen staff and food that they prepare with each plate being just as delicious as the next and the staff who serve you whether you’re dining or in the pub. It really is just the most amazing and magical place and I can’t thank everyone enough for making our stay so special for our special wedding. It was just impeccable.

Our son booked this bed and breakfast stay for an anniversary gift for us. While the building itself is nice and we appreciate the character we were quite disappointed with the cleanliness and other issues in our room. We had numerous issues, dust and cobwebs throughout the room and bathroom, the mattress had a protruding spring which was so uncomfortable I barley slept, the bedding had a few stains which we didn’t see until turning down the covers to go to bed, the mini fridge began vibrating around midnight and we had to unplug it eventually, the enamel on the bath was chipped in a few places and the the paintwork throughout the room was tired and needs refreshing. For £300+ , this is not the kind of standard or value for money we would expect. We dined in the restaurant in the evening, the food was nice and the staff were pleasant and helpful, however our breakfast this morning arrived incomplete (toast missing) , the mushrooms and bacon were also cold. Such a shame as the residents lounge and coffee machine were a nice touch. For the price point this hotel carries these issues should not exist.

Wonderful option in Burnham Market. Nice atmosphere, careful attention to details, excellent food and well situated in the town with parking space.

If I were to review the staff alone then this would be a 5 star review. They were attentive, accommodating and nothing felt too much trouble. Food at both breakfast and dinner was good and waiting staff excellent. On the flip side, the rooms feel tired and in need of some serious TLC. In some areas felt the room could be cleaner. We stayed in the one bedroom suite which had a separate lounge area. This was ideal as we were travelling with a toddler. There were dirty towels, torn and tatty robes, the floors had fluff all over and there were what appeared to be blood stains on the carpet. The paint is peeling off in most rooms and it really wasn’t what we were expecting for £300 a night!

Great two night break at The Hoste last week. Lovely room, super fast check in. All staff friendly and could not have been more helpful. It was very busy as they had a wedding on Friday so guests arriving on Thursday. Staff doing a great job under pressure. The breakfast is amazing. So much choice and the Eggs Royale were the best I have ever eaten. We have not stayed at The Hoste for years but following our experience last week, we will be booking again and soon.
