Prince of Burford

Lovely hotel with a friendly team, comfortable bed & delicious food. There was ample parking & the hotel is in a great location.

We only went for lunch, but the menu was well thought, the food was excellent and the service exceptional. A great experience!

Great welcome after we arrived late on Sunday, just in time for an excellent 2 course dinner. We were even upgraded to a comfortable room on the top floor. The Sunday stayover deal is very good value. We even signed up to the loyalty scheme.

We stayed at the nearby Travelodge on a Saturday evening and decided to visit The Prince of Burford for some food. Unfortunately, our visit was cut short after we got the strong impression from the manager that we weren’t welcome. We had one drink and left to find somewhere else to eat. Still trying to give the place another chance, we returned the following morning for breakfast. We were told there would be a 30-minute wait, which we were happy to accept. However, after nearly an hour, during which time our friends had already received and finished their meals, we still hadn’t been served. With a day planned at the nearby wildlife park and two hungry children in tow, we asked for a refund. At this point, the same manager from the night before became unnecessarily rude and dismissive, falsely claiming he had said it would be a 40–45 minute wait and even saying, “I should have just turned you away.” His attitude showed a complete lack of customer service and courtesy. The pub wasn’t particularly busy, and we noticed others who had ordered after us receiving their food before us. Overall, we had a very negative experience here. It felt like the manager picked and chose who he wanted to serve. I wouldn’t recommend this place to others, especially families, due to the unwelcoming and unprofessional attitude we encountered.
