Takalvan Motel

One night stop for a visit to Mon Repos. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped (fridge, toaster, kettle, microwave). Fresh milk and water in the fridge was very welcome. On a busy road and the motel style car park created some noise, but this was as expected and not too disruptive. Would recommend the hotel for a visit to the Bundaberg area.

I read confirmation instructions to contact staff if we expected to arrive after reception hours, but had trouble communicating by email without easy international phone access. After several unsuccessful attempts by email days in advance, my husband was able to call from the airport on the day of our arrival to receive late checkin instructions. Even an email reply indicating we could not receive this information until the day of our arrival would have helped. Instead, the reply only stated “we acknowledge your message.” Aside from this pre-arrival stress, the room itself was clean and spacious, hence 4 stars. I only wished for two things: one, that the curtains in front had a smaller gap between the window and curtain for privacy (or a side wall/curtain to block this gap). Between that hand-width gap and the large mirror on the wall opposite the bed, someone outside could easily see inside most of the room and I felt nervous changing clothes outside of the bathroom. The second thing I wished was that the bed hadn’t been so close to the window for noise reasons (the cars are right outside like a standard motel), but this seems harder to fix with the layout of the kitchen. The location was close to the airport and hospital, but not particularly convenient for dining or nightlife in the CBD unless you have a car. To be fair, there’s not much of that to be had in Bundaberg. When we arrived at 9pm the area was dead quiet. The next night, we tried to eat at the motel but it was closed by the time we changed at 6:30pm.

Fantastic family room, they also helped us with keeping our caravan inside of the premises. Everything was very clean, spacious room and all the appliances worked very well. If we have to go to Bundaberg again, 100% we are gonna stay here!

My wife and I stayed for one night. We loved everything about the motel. It's in a perfect position for the hospitals. Our room was clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. The food is superb. We have booked another stay for next month.

Noelene and Brittany’s hospitality during this stay was fantastic. We will return. They were very accommodating to our needs. Having a room to allow our puppies to holiday with us was one reason we chose this motel.

A quiet and comfortable motel, with friendly staff. Our room was up 12 stairs (we were offered a downstairs room if we preferred). The upstairs room had a comfortable and GOOD SIZED bed, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron, cutlery, crockery, tea towel, bag rack, hanging space, bedside lamps. We recommend this motel, and will be back.
