Sehr sauber.

Our visit to the Adler formed part of a 10-hotel motorbike tour of the Alps and Italian lakes, and was by far the best of the hotels my girlfriend and I stayed at, and actually one of the cheapest. As soon as we pulled up at the hotel, the owners and staff were ready to greet us. After being shown to our room, my girlfriend decided that was the ideal time to start stripping her bike down to fix a coolant problem. The owners son went out of his way to move cars from the covered parking so we could work on the bike. They even helped with finding some old plastic buckets we could use. Basically, nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was clean and comfortable, and reasonably large - something that really helps when you’re lugging around 2 sets of panniers, jackets, boots and helmets! It was located at the far end of the building, and we could still hear some road noise as the hotel sits on the main road through the town. I imagine this can be a bit louder in the summer with windows wide open, or in rooms towards the front of the hotel. We were perfectly fine with it though. After a few hours slaving over a hot spanner, we cleaned ourselves up and heading down to dinner where we’d pre-booked a table in the restaurant. The room itself has a really quaint alpine feel to it, and very welcoming. The walls are showered with family photos and German trinkets, proving that the owners have been there for a good amount of time. As with our arrival, we were shown to our table with a smile in a relaxed and welcoming way. I tried out my best Google-translated German on one of the waitresses, attempting to order some wine I’d seen another couple drinking. It wasn’t quite working, but that didn’t matter as the family speak English without any issues, and we managed to order dinner. This leads me to by far the best part of our stay at the Adler – the steak! Now, I’m not much of a steak kind of a guy. I’d take a spicy curry, or something vegetarian and tasty given the choice, but this steak was to die for. Quite honestly, the best I’ve ever eaten, and this coming from someone that cooked in a steak restaurant for several years. I won’t say any more than that, as you’ll either take me at my word and try it yourself or won’t be interested enough to find out if the wine influenced the experience. After a good night’s sleep, we woke early and prepared the bikes for departure. The restaurant (now breakfast room) was fairly quiet, and we decided on a cup of coffee before we left. The husband had drawn the short straw to look after breakfast, and was very dismayed when we thanked him kindly but declined the buffet that had been laid out. It did look very appealing, but we were trying to pace ourselves for the other 9 upcoming breakfasts. Instead, we sat outside on the high balcony watching the sun come up over the hills that surround the town. I normally stay in a location just a few miles away to Buehlertal when I’m in the Black Forest, but I’m so glad

Danke Tesm - well deserved. Auch das Frühstück ließ keine Wünsche offen.
