Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge

We loved our stay at Ichumbi! We came here to do our gorilla treks. The property is closely located to the entrance and just a short walk from the souvenirs. The staff here were very kind & accommodating. They even put a hot water bottle in the bed each evening which I loved since we came during the rainy season. They also cleaned our boots which was much appreciated. The room was comfortable and clean. Don’t hesitate to stay here! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Super comfortable lodge! Perfect for gorilla trekking. Delicious food & super personable staff! Rooms are gorgeous— can’t rave enough about the balconies! WiFi is pretty spotty but this is to be expected up in the mountains. Would stay here again for sure! Massages in the room are available too.

After a long ride from Rwanda to Uganda we arrived at this absolutely stunning Lodge where we had an exceptional dinner at an amazing dining room with lots of African memorabilia and were disappointed that we booked only one night. Extremely friendly staff and it felt like we are deep in the jungle and you can expect any wild life coming around the next corner.

I had the best food ever. Apart from the lodge being close to the park and the staff being very friendly. The food here was the best I have ever tasted. David the manager went far and beyond to see that we were comfortable. To me Uganda is the best country ever. They may not have much must whatever they have they offer it whole heartedly.

A really beautiful place with fantastic staff - very friendly and helpful. We spent there 2 nice days visiting Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and would have loved to stay longer, to enjoy the delicious food and the spotless clean bungalows. We got a lot of information and everyone did everything to make us feel at home!

We have stayed in over 10 lodges in Africa, some of them very well know ones from upscale brands and all of them are trained very well the way treat their guests. But, the manager, David and his entire team took it a level where the genuine warmth came across. We stayed for two nights, primarily to do the Gorilla Trek and did an afternoon of birding. Wish we had planned to stay a day longer. The food was excellent and the presentation as well. They had an option for local cuisine and we made sure we ordered them (matoke for example) and they were very tasty. The room was small and nice with a large wrap around verandah. The seating area outside the dining room was very nice to enjoy the views and the sunbirds. They also provide a free shoe cleaning service when you return from the trek and give you sandals while they are getting cleaned. We didn't carry any spare pair of shoes, but the sandals worked just fine. I wish I got the same service at other lodges. And this place is literally 5 minutes drive from the Bwindi gate where you register and they assign you to trekking groups.

A beautifully furnished and decorated lodge with fantastic service and food. It is conveniently situated just 5 minutes from Bwindi impenetrable forest for gorilla tracking. The staff here were attentive and services like laundry and boot cleaning were included. Will certainly return when we visit the gorillas again!

Stayed two nights (booked by tour company). The lodge is beautiful with a nice view. Like other lodges in Uganda, it seems to prioritize appearance over substance and function. The room was reasonably spacious with power jacks near the bed. Comfortable bed with mosquito nets and pillows. No safe or electric kettle. The ceiling was quite squeaky and the first night it sounded like there was a herd of buffaloes stomping on it back and forth, at night and as early as 05:30 am. In the bathroom, there was hot water, although water pressure was low. No shower curtain or door, so it was impossible to shower without getting the floor wet. Breakfast to order, with fruit and juice buffet (although the fruit wasn't replenished promptly). No wifi in the room (and no mobile reception). Wifi was available in the restaurant only. Friendly staff.
