Lovely property and grounds, rooms have plenty of character. Would have been 5/5 had it not been for the ensuite which was tiny and in what appeared to be a former walk in wardrobe. While it was just about adequate, using the shower felt very cramped and made it feel quite budget standard unlike the rest of the experience. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly but not intrusive.

Haven’t stayed for a couple of years now, but this place just gets better and better. A beautiful hotel, in stunning grounds with a view to die for. Dan and his crew really are the warmest , friendliest hosts you could wish to meet. A word of warning: the meals we ate at the hotel were gorgeous. Home made and served on the generous size. Be especially careful with the puddings: Lisa’s homemade cheesecakes are very more-ish! My only regret is that I don’t live closer, so I could visit more often.

Lovely family run hotel in a beautiful location. Stayed for 2 night with our cockapoo in room 5 which was immaculate with the comfiest bed ever! The food was delicious, varied menu and huge portions. Breakfast was enormous and freshly cooked to perfection. All in all the hotel is fantastic value for money, cosy, welcoming, in a beautiful location with the lakes on the doorstep. The grounds a also beautiful if you don’t have time for a long walk. The family obviously work extremely hard to give their guests a great stay. We will be back soon.

Cute quaint little country house with amazing views. We stayed as we planned an evening hike in the lakes and the prices were super reasonable in the summer season on the outskirts of the Lakes £85 BB. A quaint family run country house on the outskirts of cockermouth with lovely gardens and views of the Lakes. Nice little bar with an excellent selection of drinks, lovely outdoor terrace with seating where we had an evening drink enjoying the views. We got back to late to sample the food but they had great offers on 2 courses. Breakfast was fine, toast, yoghurt, some fruits, cereal and then choice of full english. Room was small but modern with a small en-suite shower. I had a small issue with cobwebs when opening the roof window it was quite dirty and lots of cobwebs come in when i opened it, I mentioned this to a member of staff and it was all sorted when we returned from our hike. It was one of the hottest nights of the year and the room was stifling hot so could maybe do with a fan in each room. But I understand this is rare for this heat. Friendly staff and it had a nice atmosphere. We would definitely stay again.

Havn't actually stayed at the hotel, but the Sunday lunchtime carvery is very good. Choice of meats and serve yourself vegetables and gravy etc. Definitely not posh by any means, and the decor is quite tired looking, but hot and tasty Sunday lunch at a very reasonable price.

This is our 4th visit to Broughton Craggs Hotel. It has so much to offer situated in a cluster of lakes within a short travelling time. Some of the lakes close by are Bassenthwaite, Derwent, Buttermere, Wast water, Ennerdale to name a few all with great walks and views. The hotel is set in lovely grounds. Great to see the Peacocks and wildlife as you enter the long driveway. The rooms are comfortable. The hearty Breakfast served by Dan and Dave is a real feast and certainly sets you up for the day. We can highly recommend the evening meals home cooked by Lisa and Caitlin. The roasts are excellent and the majority of the menu is home cooked which is a rarity these days. Desserts are a real treat too. We retired each evening for a night cap to sit near the open fire which was welcome on these dark evenings and was really homely after a day walking. Thanks for a great break we will be back soon Nick and Emma (oh and Dora and Sybil) the doggies

This was our third stay at Broughton Craggs Hotel. We stayed in a wonderful spacious bedroom overlooking the front garden with a four poster bed, ensuite bathroom and ample wardrobe space. The breakfast provided a great start to the day, setting us up for a day of walking around the numerous lakes in the area. Breakfast was prepared to suit our individual preferences, whether it be a large, full English or eggs on toast, with the usual cereals, juices, tea, coffee etc. all available. The hotel is set in a quiet area, has plenty of parking and lovely gardens (with peacocks!!). Dan and Lisa have a very hard working team of staff including Caitlin, David, Beth to name a few. Thank you to you all at Broughton Craggs for a great, hospitable stay. See you in 2025.

Visited previously in 2021. It’s a stunning building, fantastic period fixtures and fittings, great views and location, 2 miles from Cockermouth. Family owned, all lovely and very helpful. Breakfast will last you the rest of the day. Very good value.
