We stayed in room 103 which is a large suite. Amazing views with huge bay windows (6 in total) giving some the best views I have ever experienced. They include a telescope so you can see Broderick Castle, fishing vessels etc. Very spacious, clean and well equipped (even a wine cooler). Previous reports mentioned noise (we are above the bar). We did not have any but stayed Sun to Wed. Restaurant food is excellent but it is worthwhile requesting a window table (which we did).

This hotel exceeded our expectations by far . The moment we walked into reception we were greeted with a smile and it just got better from there . Our room was fantastic with an amazing view over the bay . We ate in the restaurant and the food and service were excellent. If we return to Arran we will definitely stay here .

We stayed here for three nights, and have to say it was very comfortable and a quality hotel. From check in which was friendly and efficient, to the friendly bar staff and bistro staff. We had three sea view rooms, two upgraded free, and the rooms were all spacious with a very large comfortable bed. Rooms serviced each day and very clean. Aye in the restaurant two nights, and all good, and breakfast was excellent, hot freshly cooked and friendly staff. On,y slight issue was the one coffee machine which broke down on the first morning and staff saying we had to wait whilst it was being fixed, suggest there are two machines for the size of the bistro. We were lucky with the weather, and were able to sit outside for drinks on all three evenings. Rooms were on the 2nd and 3rd floors, lovely sea views but over the bar and seating area so with the windows open you do get some noise. But overall, cannot complain about the stay, were very comfortable and would highly recommend and would return without hesitation. The duck in the room returned with us, as the letter in the room says, he could travel back with us. Thank you for a lovely stay

After great customer experience of the bar food in 2024 when self catering on Arran, we booked for eleven nights this year. We were not disappointed. The care given by staff and their genuine interest in making sure guests have a superlative experience on holiday is second to none. The consistency of excellent service is a testimony to good management by Kate and her team and great training. Most evenings we ate in the restaurant and really enjoyed all of our meals. It was a good menu but we needed to order some of the dishes twice but they were all well presented and tasty. The tables in the restaurant are dimly lit so we requested a table as near the window as possible. Our bedroom on the second floor was light, spacious and comfortable with an armchair for each of us as well as an enormous comfortable bed. We had an unexpected side view of the sea, which was lovely. The bathroom was big and cleaned well each day. The hotel has a great location so that on rainy days it's a quick walk to the promenade between showers. We have already booked to stay next year.

What an amazing hotel! The friendliest, most helpful staff, comfortable luxurious room, gorgeous views, the most beautiful garden and delicious food! I would highly recommend this hotel - top notch! We’ll definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff!

We arrived on a wet Saturday to be greeted by the cheery presence of Kate in reception who had upgraded our executive double room to one with a sea view. The room was spotless with a bathroom almost as large as the bedroom. The bed was so comfortable and eventually we got a good nights sleep. Only disappointments were no power shower which when you’re paying £245 per night might be expected and the lack of soondproofing. It appears our seaview room was directly above the bar and we could hear loud conversations below. We booked dinner in the Bistro and the food was nice enough and the service excellent. We went to the bar for a couple of drinks and there was a good atmosphere with a live singer on from 9 until midnight although we retired to the room about 1030. The singer was excellent and we didn’t mind really that he went on for 10 minutes after midnight but when he finished the bar staff decided to put on some music which was pretty loud and I had to ask reception to have it turned off- staff unaware that people are in rooms attempting to sleep maybe a wee reminder needed. Breakfast next day was fine with decent selection of pastries bread fruit and yoghurt. Ordered the full Scottish breakfast which was lovely. On check out a different lady from Kate seemed pretty cold and we were gone without even asking if we had enjoyed our stay. I’d recommend avoiding room 102 at weekends especially a Saturday night due to aforementioned noise issue. Overall a nice hotel with good staff and service but definitely over priced but I suppose that’s down to supply and demand.

Stayed one night at the Douglas hotel before heading to Blackwaterfoot on the other side of the island and cannot recommend this place highly enough. Staff were so friendly and accomdating and on hand to answer any questions we had. Dinner at the restaurant and the breakfast the next day was brilliant. Their bar is also so, so beautiful. Gorgeous views whatever the weather. We stayed in Room 201 - booked a sea view executive room and it was very comfortable. Point to note - the room is on a higher floor so the sea view is through a small window but still very beautiful. Worth noting if you're expecting full window sea-views. I tend to get hot very quickly so REALLY appreciated the table fan they had in the room. A very large room and an even larger bathroom. It was our first time in Arran if a one night stay in Brodick was so wonderful - cannot wait to come back and see what more days and we will definitely be back and will definitely look to stay at The Douglas again. They sell a small Douglas Duck toy for a fiver and I had to buy one and take it along with me whenever we're travelling.
