We have stayed here many times and love the place. Friendly welcomes at the front desk and always good service. Food is good and the breakfasts excellent. Breakfast...talking of which.......at the risk of triggering Mr Wilson, when did the last sitting get brought forward to 09.45 with last orders at 10.00? We are not milkmen and don't remember those early timings in previous years. It seems somewhat early especially on a weekend. Forest Park Hotel and The Huntsman put the sausages away at 10.30 and 11.00. We even ordered in room breakfast for the 09.30 - 10.00 slot and it came at 09.15!! It was good to get home, only for a lie in......

What a beautiful hotel with character and charm. My husband and I stayed for just one night. We went for a lovely walk in the forest around the hotel and then came back and had a couple of drinks in the bar. Our standard room was clean and modern. The only thing was that we didn’t find the bed very comfortable.. a little a hard. But we will definitely return.

We stayed at Balmer Lawn from Christmas Eve to 27th as part of their Christmas package. We had a lovely time, ate and drank far too much but mostly just relaxed which was a great way to spend the festive break. There was an issue with our daughter’s interconnecting room but they sorted it immediately and she found herself in a very lovely room of her own just over the corridor from us which she thought was great. My husband managed to stop the leak as maintenance were not working and we left the inter connecting room drying out so all was sorted nice and quickly. The rooms were lovely, being at the end of a corridor was ideal although those stairs after dinner felt like a workout ;-) The food and drink were exceptional! As someone with a food intolerance I cannot fault the team, so much attention to detail, a call in advance from the restaurant manager to check in with me and follow up emails to make sure I had the right options. Throughout our stay the staff knew I had an intolerance so knew to bring me oat milk and came and found with me with a tray of dairy free canapés which was a lovely touch. The manager (I think his name was Tom) was great, made sure he checked in with every table on Boxing Day and stopped to chat with all the guests. The staff were all lovely, really great team! I did feel for them on Christmas Day as a couple of guests were not that kind to them but they just kept smiling! Well done to them all. The night porter was fabulous, my daughter had an asthma attack on Christmas Eve and despite being busy resetting the hotel after a fire alarm he took time to get stuff I needed and came and checked she was ok the next morning. This was our second festive break at Balmer lawn and we hope to be back again for another. Thank you!

Stayed from Xmas eve to 27th on Xmas package. Absolutely delighted with the warm welcome by all the staff and the delicious meals the chefs created . From manager , waitresses to those creating wonderful cocktails…. nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and look forward to returning next year!

The welcome was a little sharp, not warm. Welcome drinks dwindling - poured my own for some of the party. The table allocated had to be made bigger for the party size and was not low level as I’d asked for a few times with disabled parents when booking. Food tasty but not like the amazing buffet two years back when we last came or service. Sadly the buffet area was not looked after, so no bowls or extra cutlery and food bits everywhere especially on the fruit salad / bread area. Male toilets not cleaned regularly and towels dropped on floor still there two hours later. I removed a blockage from the sink. Despite the fact I had spent nearly £550 on the buffet and drinks, two of the party tried to get coffee at the end in a smaller table area, after the buffet finished whilst waiting for the EV charger. Eventually taken to the snug by a waiter which was empty, but then informed by another waiter, as they were not guests they couldn’t order?? Gave up and sat in the car. Sadly this will be our last year. Even though staff friendly, the service and delivery didn’t meet the expectations from previous visit, which is a real shame. The hot food was tasty.

I have been a number of times and never disappointed. We had dinner there with friends and both The NFH Ball and Boxing Day meet were held there. Service is impeccable, thoughtful, kind and friendly. The food delicious…the bar cosy and cocktails just perfect. Location idyllic. Highly recommend.

Such a cosy night spent at the hunt ball. The rooms were great, the party was brilliant and the staff were all so patient and lovely. Especially in the morning when we were quite late for breakfast but we were still treated nicely and really enjoyed the breakfast!

Amazing work xmas do! catered for a variety of dietary preferences and endless wine! fantastic DJ and attentive staff. i wish id paid to stay the night as the spa looks worth a visit. All of us said it's the best venue and work do weve ever had ❤️.
