Quite disappointed
Quite disappointed by this stay. The position of th hotel is lovely but the hotel itself has many issues.
Extraction fan going 24 hours. Spoke to reception on 4 occasions but it was turned off over night only once. I gave up in the end as I was getting no support from staff.
Superior room was poor.
Bathroom not very clean
Products in bathroom had no branding and looked cheap in brown containers. No idea what it was.
Pillows hard
No fridge
No safe
For the price I would expect better
Only one menu although advertising 2 restaurants.
Some staff good some a little disinterested.

Everything was great service, friendly staff, the Beresford food was very nice find it hard to fault, only gripe is rooms were tired and the small things were not quite there an open electric box that would take 10mins to cover up was left exposed in a child’s room!we enjoyed it though just please tidy the rooms up and give them some Tlc then it would be a 5 star.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting in the New Forest. We booked in for Mothers’ Day Afternoon Tea. There was a choice of numerous teas and coffees and dietary requirements were checked. The food was beautifully presented and a good variety. Savouries included a sandwich, wrap, croissant and tartlet. Scones were both fruit ones and plain ones with jam and clotted cream. There were five choices on the patisserie plate, gateau, macaron, choux, cheesecake and tartlet. It was truly scrumptious! A doggy bag was required as we couldn’t manage it all! Service was extremely good, friendly and helpful. We will definitely return!

I had high expectations for Balmer Lawn Hotel, but overall, I was left disappointed. While the staff were friendly and the location was perfect, the hotel itself did not live up to its four-star rating. The room and bathroom felt tired and in need of refurbishment. There were also not enough plug sockets—our kettle, fridge, and lamp all had to share one, which is just poor planning for a modern hotel. Despite being advertised as family-friendly, the pool was closed to children for most of the day. It seems the hotel is trying to cater to both families and adults looking for a relaxing spa experience, but in reality, it’s failing at both. You can’t be a family hotel and an adult spa retreat at the same time—it just comes across as greedy. Another disappointment was being charged £4 for a coffee at breakfast. I’ve never had to pay extra for coffee at any hotel I’ve stayed in before, and at these prices, it felt like an unnecessary and excessive charge. The hotel keeps mentioning future upgrades to the spa and pool, but I paid a lot of money for the experience as it is now, not for what it might be in the future. For the cost of the stay, I expected much better. Sadly, I wouldn’t stay again and wouldn’t recommend it.
