The Gather Inn

A one night stay Friendly staff but disappointed overall. There was a large window with new curtains and carpet. There was a new toilet, sink and radiator in the bathroom. But it was small and the shower itself let the place down. They have overlooked some of the basics including decent beds without headboard and gap at the end to lose your pillows.Filling the kettle at the sink was near impossible as it didn’t fit under the tap.

This pub / hotel offers friendly service, great atmosphere and good selection of drinks. They also have a locket function room. I have been here many times before and will be back! The menu caters to dietary requirements and has lots of choice

After reading the reviews I thought this was a great find, however I'm afraid we were disappointed with the quality of the room. The decor was very tired and looked like something out of the 80s (brown carpet, flowery wallpaper) but it appeared clean. The bathroom however was a different story... there was mould on the ceiling, the floor felt grimy and the overall look was dark and dingy. We were also rudely awakened by the fire alarm going off around 7.30, got ready to evacuate then it was switched off again! I would have lodged a complaint about the room but I knew there were no other rooms available without paying extra for them which I wasn't prepared to do. I felt overall that this was overpriced (£138) for the quality and would not stay here again.

Great welcoming little place clean rooms. The bar staff Claire and Emma were great at the bar and very good hosts. I would recommend to anyone to come here for a stay no complaints. The shots were on point and I fully recommend trying them when you stay.

The room was well appointed though uncluttered. Shower clean and everything tidy. Staff were happy and made me feel welcome. The food on offer was extensive with daily variations on the offer style. Bar downstairs is a usual pub with pool and plenty of room to relax ,music is fine.

I booked the gather inn as it was reasonably priced with good reviews, and located close to the friend I was visiting. The Inn (pub part) was cosy and staff very friendly, however the room was not what I expected and although the bedding was clean and crisp white, the towels provided where bleach stained and like cardboard, there was also a huge stain on the base of the bed, the Kettle was full of dust and white stained with limescale. The carpets in the communal hallways were filthy and looked almost sticky from the tread foot. The bed and room were basic however the bathroom was across the hallway and I found this a little inconvenient. It’s such a shame as this little Inn could be beautiful with a bit of money invested such as carpets, towels and kettles so the stay feels more comfortable.
