We visited the Bower Inn Bridgwater as staying guests and invited family for dinner at their restaurant, the easiest ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ as far food and service is concerned. The food was just right across the table, very well presented and prepared. We had a diverse table in terms of variety of dishes from the vegetarian Heritage tomato panzanella, Flat Iron chicken thighs to the sticky pork loin Korean ribs, calamari, burgers and fish and chips and the superb grilled peaches with honey and thyme pudding. The staff were extremely attentive, polite and professional. The following day my wife & I (and pooch) had our English breakfast and the highlight was the sausage which was very well cooked, tasty and full of flavour, the bacon was perfectly grilled too and the bonus of the sourdough toasted bread slice. Lastly, the staff member at breakfast who we now know to be called Jane was superb and friendly. Jane shown true interpersonal skills, she approach our table at breakfast and asked my wife and I, if our pooch (to clarify for those who may have reservations about pets in the restaurant area, pets are not allowed in the restaurant but only in the bar area and this was where we had our breakfast) our Bichon Frise would be able to have some sausage for which we said yes, Jane very kindly brought a small “steamed only” sausage for our pooch, this was such a lovely gesture which made breakfast even more special. We truly recommend The Bower Inn Bridgwater based on our experience.

We stayed here two years ago en route to Plymouth and loved the place but not this time. I booked a downstairs double room a while ago as my husband needs to use a scooter to move around and can’t do steps. A few days before our stay I called to check the room was downstairs and discovered there were accessible rooms for the disabled but at a cost of £206 per night , a mere £66 extra ! What a rip off. I declined this offer. The pub was busy at dinner and we had booked a table but waited half an hour to order food. The menu is very limited and nothing like as good as it was before. I ordered a chicken burger which came as a bread bun with a few chicken goujons and a bit of salad inside. It looked very much like the goujons delivered as a starter to the next table but of course a lot more expensive. My husband had the pie and the pastry was so hard he couldn’t cut it. The meat filling was nice though. Breakfast was very disappointing. No cereals, fruit or pastries on offer. You just ordered from a menu with separate prices for those without breakfast included. Ours was included. My scrambled egg on toast consisted of a slice of unbuttered toast with egg on top and a butter pat at the side. Not a lot of it and not very hot either. Although it wasn’t busy then the waitress never reappeared to see if everything was okay. We had two more stays booked later this year but have cancelled them both.

I think the food in general is ok, but unfortunately I've just had the worst ploughmans ever. 2 slices of medium sliced bread cut in half, a small piece of cheese the same size as a Dairylea triangle accompanied by stilton that was smaller. Half a piece of ham. 2 pickled eggs that had a strange outer texture !! A pickled onion cut in half with some nice chutney. 2 butter portions that were bigger than the cheeses. A sausage roll that was hard to cut and even harder to digest. I think the chef had a day off and the waiter dished it up. I'm not a moaner but did send some bread back. The waiter returned saying this is fresh out of the bag . It wasn't. If your short on ingredients take it off the menu !!!!!! . Needless to say we won't be returning. SAD. Should of taken a few pictures.?
