So pleased to find this. We stayed here whilst taking part in Cancer Research’s Big Hike in the Brecon area. And we are so pleased we stayed. We enjoyed some lovely food on arrival and were very comfortable over night, paying a reasonable price for the experience. The staff we so welcoming and engaging, and supper was exceedingly tasty, and the room very quiet overnight, meaning we were well rested for our big walk the following day. We didn’t try breakfast because of our early start, but judging by supper, yes that would have been good. I understand the business is now undermanagement, and yes, there were a few things I’d change in the room, but would I stay again? You bet…. I would normally score this a 4, but I have added a +1 because the staff were so welcoming. You can’t buy that…. Will certainly stay here again next time Cancer Research tries hill walking… Thanks folks.

If you want to sleep, bring ear plugs. The room I stayed in (No.8) is unfit for purpose, unless you are deaf or plan to be rather drink. It smells, as the fan in the bathroom doesn't work. The noise is incessant and came from everywhere. When the bass from the background music from the hotel restaurant directly underneath finally stopped, you were entertained by the lively chatter coming from the town square the room overlooked (until 1:30 in the morning). I finally fell asleep from sheer exhaustion but then was woken up at 8 am as the music downstairs resumed. What more does one want from a hotel?

Went to the wellington with my girlfriend, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best steak and Malbec pies iv ever had, the starters was also amazing especially the bbq chicken strips and the sticky chicken, my girlfriend loved the steak, cooked perfectly (medium rare) the service was amazing, staff were so friendly and delightful, atmosphere was nice and chill, will definitely go there again, I would highly recommend.

Grand old Georgian hotel. Large rooms, very elegant in a faded style, but no air con in the rooms. no lifts. Just good old pub hospitality. Full barth tub. Not very disabled friendly, though. Rigjt in the heart of Brecon. No easy parking, just pot luck.

The room was filthy, only 2 hand towels and makeup on one. There wasn’t a hairdryer and stains on the bedding resulting us having to sleep in our clothes and this was in the middle of June and temperatures high. There was a damp smell in the room triggering an allergy reaction to my wife’s sinus. Stay at room number 3 at your own peril and I don’t say this lightly.. A glass of white wine was £10.50, and a pint of ale £7.50, we booked a table for 7:30pm only to be told at the reception whilst checking in after completing the Welsh 3 Peaks challenge that the kitchen was stopping cooking food at 6pm due to maintenance. As I take various parties on such challenges, this is one hotel we will never use again.

Cheaper drinks in Covent garden London! I would class the wellington as only one up from Wetherspoons. £10.25 for a large class of wine and over £6 for a cider shandy! I ordered a medium wine and was charged for a large. The bar man said he though I had said large and would have to get his manager to refund. She did not acknowledge us or speak to us until absolutely necessary. There are much nicer places at reasonable prices to drink in Brecon. Will never drink there again at those ridiculous prices.
