Wow.... what a bummer of an experience. Where to begin with what went wrong!?!? This is the 4th year we have stayed at the Village. We have ALWAYS loved it and have been very happy there. This year was we were NOT happy. 1) Upon getting my confirmation email shortly before our stay, I called in to see if we could request a Premier Room (our reserved room type) with a bunk bed set up like we had had our first year there. The gentleman said I had to request it when we arrived on site to check in. No problem. That's what I planned to do then, per his suggestion. 2) Upon arriving, there was a HUGE line. I waited about 20+ minutes, behind 6 other groups to check in, with another 4 groups behind me. When it was my turn, I explained our desire to the front desk person, who promptly told me I needed to have called in beforehand and that my room was already assigned. Feeling the pressure of the people behind me, I continued to ask for what I was told to ask for upon check-in. She kept telling me the same thing until I asked for a manager. The manager NEVER came out of the back room, which I felt was tacky and unprofessional. The front desk person came back and had switched us to the bunk room. I kept verifying that this was a premier room still but with bunk beds. She said yes. The reason for the bunk beds is that last year our second bedrooms were REALLY SMALL with two full beds in them. There is no room for bags or to even walk around. 3) Upon getting to the Chateau building, we loaded our bags into the elevator while also getting 3 kids in. I held the elevator with the button, but also had my hand in front of it while my son got his last bag and got in with our other two children. While walking through the door, the door started to close, alarms went off and he barely got through without the door CLOSING ON HIM!!!!!!! IT DID NOT STOP and almost crushed him in the door. What kind of elevator doesn't stop when something or SOMEONE is in the doorway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4) We then got to our floor and were getting out and it did it AGAIN, this time on my daughter. I screamed and pulled her through the door before it crushed her. I am NOT exaggerating. 5) After getting them in the room, our bags in the room, and waiting for my husband, I went to the front desk, only to have the manager (the same one that never came out of her office before when there was a HUGE line) belittle me about the incidentS. Incidents PLURAL. She kept smirking and telling me that they run the rooms and the HOA runs the elevator. What kind of person says something so stupid! Oh I'm sorry your child almost got crushed in the elevator, but that's not our responsibility. We only rent the rooms on the 4th floor but we don't provide you with a way to get there. The HOA does, so we wash our hands of the elevator... that's not our responsibility. Did she not realize how stupid and inconsiderate that sounded? I was PISSED. No doubt if my kids lost a limb or got cr
Residence Inn Breckenridge

Historic Downtown
This hotel is located right at the upper end of Breckenridge's Main Street. Many restaurants and bars on both Main Street and the parallel Ridge Street are within a 10 minute walk. Breckenridge Brewery is just across the street. A couple of convenience stores are close by as well. A front door (on the opposite side of the building as the parking lot and vehicle drop-off) provides the best access to Main Street. Front desk staff are professional and accommodating. The breakfast is better than average for a hotel, and includes both self-serve waffles and an automatic mini pancake maker. Some of the hot food change each day. There's one particular man who works cleaning up at the breakfast and brings a happy vibe sometimes breaking out into song. Housekeeping is every other day by request and does so reliably. The suite-style rooms aren't overly spacious, but are plenty well appointed, comfortable and very clean. Excellent smart TVs provide easy high-tech connectivity. A full kitchen with a full size refrigerator is included with all rooms. WiFi is easy to connect to and reliable, thankfully not requiring routinely reconnecting. The public areas of the hotel are welcoming as well and include a lot of cool ski-related art (see my pics) and there's a very pleasant outside area with a firepit and some seating. Both indoor and outdoor parking are available. During ski season a shuttle provides non-stop service during the daytime to to three different drop-off points at the slopes. All three shuttle drivers that I encountered had helpful advice, with Alex perhaps having the deepest knowledge of the slopes and conditions at any given time.

This place can be spectacular or shabby, depending on the room you get. And the only way to know what room you are TRULY getting is to book through the property. I learned this the hard way. Important discoveries: 1) do not stay here unless you can guarantee a river-facing unit with a balcony. These can be quite affordable and they are nothing short of a dream. The sound of the river just outside your window all night will lull you to sleep with the most beautiful white noise of nature. Sit on the patio and soak in the views of the rustling aspens as you sip coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. Also noteworthy: these units face the East and only get gentle morning sun so the place never gets hot. This is especially important in the summer bc no properties in Breck have air conditioners. It can get really hot in the units facing the west. Also noteworthy: many units not facing the east overlook a busy-ish street which can be really awful with all the noise (lots of loud trucks all day and even into the night) and the smell of exhaust. But again— you must keep your windows open bc there is no AC. This makes for a miserable experience. 2) do not get a loft unit. Ever. The loft is the bedroom no windows, which means you will suffer a horrible heat when trying to sleep, summer or winter. There will be a skylight but no screen so opening it could allow unwanted critters. You’re in the mountains after all. The single story units (non-loft) have screens on all windows. 3) Stay off the ground floor if possible. This reduces the noise level and allows for a much better view of the river and beautiful trees. The river facing units are not to be missed, but the street level doesn’t provide the same experience. Still, ALWAYS choose river facing. Even street level is great, especially compared to the non-river facing units that face the street or the parking lot. 4) Do not believe the images you see on the hotel websites bc they are often not images of the actual unit you think you are renting. To be safe, always contact the property directly to confirm you are getting the room/amenities you want. 2)

Baldy Mountain
What a spectacular lodge and location! Located up the mountain across from the ski slope, it offers great views all over - from our room, from the restaurant, and from the porch. Be aware there is no elevator, so be prepared to take steps to your room and to the restaurant. The lodge offers a shuttle all day which will save you on parking in town. Our room was wonderful - what a great morning view watching the sum come up over the mountain. The bed was comfy. The room had a keurig type coffee maker which was excellent! There's happy hour at the bar offering discounted drinks and appetizers. Weather was nice so we enjoyed our cocktail on the outside porch. We were able to talk with other guests from the lodge as well as others who stopped by the restaurant for drinks and food! Truly a wonderful experience!

I recently stayed at Beaver Run Resort and had an exceptional experience. The resort's location is perfect for both relaxation and adventure, nestled right at the base of the ski slopes. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. My room was spacious, clean, and offered stunning mountain views. The resort amenities were fantastic, including multiple hot tubs, pools, and a well-equipped fitness center. I particularly enjoyed the on-site dining options, which provided delicious meals without the need to leave the property. The ski-in/ski-out access made my days on the slopes incredibly convenient. Overall, Beaver Run Resort exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable mountain getaway.
