I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. What stood out immediately was how responsive and efficient the team was through the group chat they created for guests. It felt like having a concierge in your pocket—fast, friendly, and always ready to help. One moment that really impressed me: I had sent my laundry in (yes, they offer complimentary laundry service—not just machines, but actual washing and drying done for you!), and I noticed one of my socks was missing. I casually asked about it in the group chat while I was having breakfast near the reception area. To my surprise, I saw a staff member literally sprint off from the reception and return shortly after—with my missing sock in hand! That level of attentiveness was genuinely remarkable. There was a little hiccup when the hotel forgot our advance booking for transport. We were initially told to book our own as their cars were all taken, which left us pretty dissatisfied—especially since it wasn’t a last-minute request. But while I was venting to my friend, one of our butlers overheard us and quietly stepped in. She said she'd help us out—and to our surprise, she personally booked a DiDi ride for us using her own money. We were honestly amazed by that level of care, and it meant so much that we later decided to bring her a little taste of our local delight as a thank-you gift. The hotel also offers complimentary afternoon tea, complete with barista-made coffee and cakes—a perfect treat to enjoy while soaking in the tranquil atmosphere. Speaking of which, the view from my room was incredible—lush, open grasslands that made every moment feel peaceful and grounding. They also offer a car service to take you to nearby points of interest, but to be honest, the hotel itself was such a gem that I could have easily stayed in the whole time. Between the view, the service, and the food (the in-house restaurant is also worth mentioning—delicious meals and lovely ambience), I never felt the need to venture far. This hotel nails it when it comes to comfort, hospitality, and thoughtful touches. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a truly relaxing and memorable stay. Bonus: they have three adorable chowskis roaming around the property, and one of them can even open the lobby door. 🐾 Honestly, that alone made my day. Facilities: The hotel has complete facilities, diffuse oxygen supply, floor heating, smart toilet, wet and dry separation in the bathroom, and all the necessary equipment is available. The free breakfast is on the third floor, and there are many dishes for self-service. Service: The service is very thoughtful. After arriving at the Feilai Temple bus stop, we called the front desk to pick us up immediately. After checking in, the lady kindly sent hot milk and fruit. Hygiene: The indoor hygiene is very clean and you can stay at ease. Environment: You can see the Meili Snow Mountain directly from the floor-to-ceiling windows. You don’t have to go to the Feilai Temple viewing platform. You can see the snow mountain directly in the house. It’s very convenient!

This hotel offers a great location to view the Meili Snow Mountains during the morning golden peak and also sunset (if you're lucky with the weather conditions). It is right next to the bus stop, which means it is very convenient if you are planning to catch an early morning bus (in our case). Rooms can be a bit pricey, but we know that we are essentially paying for the view. The food at the hotel is also tasty, I didn't need to go and look anywhere else for dinner and breakfast. I appreciated the great help that was provided by a staff named Xiao Wei. We arrived at the hotel when it was raining and wasn't expecting to see any mountain range in sight, but then the sky suddenly cleared up during the evening just shortly before sunset whilst we were having dinner and Xiao Wei came over to tell us to go and have a look at the snow mountain, which made our hearts rushed with joy. We also appreciated when Xiao Wei told us again during night time that the mountain range was visible so we quickly opened the curtain to treat ourselves with another fantastic view. The viewing platform on the top floor is a great location to see the sunrise and golden peak. I personally think it's even better viewing at the Feilai Temple platform that most tourists go to. On a final note, Xiao Wei again was very kind to help us by going to the bus platform at 8.30 AM in the morning to help us purchase the bus tickets from the driver (we couldn't do so as wechat pay didn't work for us). We were very happy with our stay here and got very lucky with some of the best views during our entire Yunnan trip. Thank you very much to Xiao Wei and the staff at Once Upon A Time in Meili :)

It started off not too well. Our driver took us to a wrong hotel, a hotel which was grander, more beautiful and it faces the Meili Mountain! We were so disappointed when we found out that that was not the hotel we booked. Even though Deqin Zangshan Yunju Hotel is not facing the Meili Mountain, it does provide shuttle to the viewing platform. The lady driver was waiting for us to take us there before the sunrise. It was a good thing too, our own guide and driver failed to show up to take us there!!!! When one can only see the sunrise on Meili for 67 days out of 365 days a year, it came as no surprise that we did not see the sunrise due to cloud cover. All is not lost though since this hotel faces the Baima Mountain and we did catch a beautiful sunrise from the hotel. The 4th floor rooftop is perfect for that. We had the 270 degree room which offers a fantastic view, but the windows were not cleaned as well, so taking photos from the room was not as good. The breakfast was adequate. It would be nice if they could prepare a bit more. I am sure if I asked, they would make more for me though. No regrets staying at this great hotel. The hotel is located close to the Fellei temple.

The size of the room was crazy, and super clean, with floor heating, humidifier and oxygen machine, very friendly to the ones who suffer from altitude sickness (luckily both of us were tough enough) and the staff of the hotel might be the most warm-hearted and friendly hotel staff I’ve ever seen. If you have Wechat they will add you into a service group and you can ask for help or services there, very convenient. And it is also super close to the ancient city, 5mins walk. 10/10, will definitely recommend to family and friends.

At first we contemplated to choose to stay here. But after much consideration, we decided to stay and forget about the price. As we decided that the experience here would be priceless! And we definitely grateful with the decision that we made. The whole place is so beautiful and charming. With animals running around, politeness of the staffs assisting our every needs, complimentary services provided by the hotel, this hotel is really cost- effective! We are greeted with warm tea, and then with complimentary afternoon coffee and cakes. Their coffee and cake are very delicious 🤤 We also get to experience wearing the ******* clothing and free photography session. As we are muslims, we need to pray for zuhur prayer. But the check out time is before zuhur time. The staff gave us a room to pray after we check out and we really appreciate their kind gesture. The staff also gave us free rides to halal restaurants and train station. We recommend people to stay here at least once, you will not regret it 🩷

A very cosy & comfortable stay, with very convenient location - walking distance to the Old Town, restaurants & convenient stores The front desk are very kind, friendly, patient & helpful, special thanks to 小许 who helped us to book the taxi & ordered food online as we don’t have a local China mobile number. Cleanliness is honestly so-so. Found used/opened disposable shampoo packets in bathroom when arrived. The in-room hot water dispenser is a small-sized mobile unit that connects directly to a small mineral water bottle - not easy to use plus it discharges some greenish fluid while trying out. The multi-level building has no lift so large heavy luggage is challenging (credit to the staff who would help to carry it up for you), but climbing up/down not easy for old people. Getting the right temperature in the bathroom is challenging too, it's often too hot or too cold, and hard to adjust in between. The hotel allowed smoking in indoor public areas, resulting in the whole building soaked in second hand smoke. This is unfortunately the biggest put off that spoils everything else that could have made it a reasonable stay. Overall, I would say the stay had been below our expectations.
