Compass Hotel by Margaritaville Anna Maria Sound

Very nice hotel. I always come back here for a short stay.

The entire staff could not have been friendlier, always a smile and a greeting. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate so we do not get a chance to use pool or sit outside at Tiki bar at night but it looked great. Only one negative was they were out of Landshark beer which is an inventory fail at a Margaritaville branded property.

A decent place close to anna Maria island like 10mins drive . Breakfast is really good . Overall good but the price is steep. Rooms are too small and windows too thin , you can hear outside traffic noise. Not worth for the price you are paying. Not enough rooms facing the water . No proper shower room at the pool if you decide to enjoy it while you checkin at 4pm or you checkout late . Limited space to loiter till checkin. Hotel and bar food is good but pricey.

Such a wonderful little luxury hotel!  I wish could have stayed longer!

No safe no balconies no service

I will never recommend or stay at this hotel again!!!!! One of their employees stole two of my items and I never did got them back! Took over a month to request a refund after paying for the return of the items after being told on several occasions that they had them (emails,calls etc…)!!! Shady stuff going on inside this hotel!!!

Not as stellar as it once was for logistical reasons. One week stay, room 316 s not turned over by 5 pm if at all. Occured once in 5 days. No signs to indicate one has to call. Do not need more than trash to be collected but it is accumulating. Housekeeping is busy changing lamp shades today so my room must not be on the schedule today either. Curiously housekeeping twice were perched on the furniture outside the one working elevator, all are on their phones throughout the hotel except the front desk where staff was very aware of guests. Not critiquing just was very noticeable because it seemed everyone was on their phone. One of 2 elevators was out all Memorial Day wkend until today Thursday. You can imagine how frustrating it was as the hotel was full. Stairs not obvious. Elevator was used by staff to get housekeeping items situated, those checking in and out, etc. causing long lines and waiting periods. Breakfast is basic, the placement of items caused long delays and the covers to the hot items were very hot to the touch with kids present. Everyone piles up in lines on one side of the room where the hot food, toaster, butter and peanut butter are while the opposite side of the room is empty with some cereal and cold food such as ham, previously frozen "danish" or muffins. Eat early before 0730 to avoid a morning hassle. Cocktails cost about $16. would be better measured to the recipe vice throwing it together so there is consistency between drinks concocted by a single server or two. After two tries with what was called a "Perfect Margarita" and a "Watermelon Margarita I decided to stay with the basics, such as a rum and coke or gin and tonic after trying two cocktails. Bloody Mary was a bland mess. There is nothing exciting about the mixed drinks in taste or appearance. Sad, because that is why you are here, isn"t it? 5 o'clock somewhere.. Dining room late day food was served hot as appropriate and consistent. Room is clean, location great, bed comfortable, hot water in shower.

We came for a wedding. I absolutely loved this hotel. The gentleman at the front desk. Chris was absolutely fantastic. He was so accommodating with all of our needs. The rooms were clean and inviting the beds were so comfortable. Housekeeping did a great job every day. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. We hung out at the Compass bar and Grill downstairs many nights. We absolutely loved the Bartender Bridgette . She was fantastic. The sunsets were like no other absolutely stunning. The only thing I would complain about is the drinks took forever at the pool. The redhead server is 2 busy flirting & talking to everybody. She truly thinks it’s her pool & your on her time. Another person helping her would probably be a good idea. We ended up going to Floridays because it was was easier then waiting along time for cocktails & food. The bartenders at Floridays were great & the food was delicious. We even met the chef. He came out and talked to us. What a nice guy . We all can’t wait to come back. All & all it was a fantastic experience we definitely will be back.

I really wanted to give this hotel 5 stars because it has a lot going for it, unfortunately we ran into way too many problems to do that. First the good things about the Compass. Excellent location if you're visiting Anna Maria Island and want to try out the different beaches. Just hang a right and cross the bridge and you're there, just a few miles from everything. Make a left and you're about 7-8 miles from downtown Bradenton. Lots of stores, gas stations, restaurants and bars within a few minutes drive. The hotel itself was very clean and comfortable, the pool area is amazing! It's super clean, very large with lots of chairs, lounge chairs, umbrellas and tables all around. There are very clean bathrooms directly inside the pool area and a place to shower off if you're coming back from the beach. Very nice pool towels are provided. There is a restaurant and bar attached to the pool and poolside food and drink service is provided which is nice. I can't really say enough about the hotel's pool area, it's just about perfect. The Compass has two elevators both of which are located just off the main lobby. Both are large and move pretty quickly and are ventilated and air conditioned which is nice. Huge issue however is that one of the elevators was placed out of service leaving only one, and the hotel was full. This was a MAJOR issue as everyone was trying to head to and from breakfast as well as move their luggage to check out all at the same time. It was a total mess. The happened during the last two days of our stay, it remained that way when we checked out. If this were a cheap budget hotel I could understand but this was anything but cheap. Margaritaville should have had a service company on call to repair, inspect and get that elevator back on line especially when it's full. Flat out unacceptable. There were 3 or 4 hand carts so you could stack up your suitcases ect on wheel everything to and from your room when checking in or out. Problem was there wasn't enough air in the tires and they were very hard to push and maneuver when they were loaded up. Combine this with an overcrowded elevator and it wasn't good. The hotel hallways were well lit, clean and wide enough, there is an ice maker located just off the elevators on each floor which was very convenient. The actual rooms were pretty nice with enough room for two people. Our room was clean although somewhat dated. Upon arrival our bathroom sink was broken but it was fixed pretty quickly by maintenance. There was plenty of hot water and good water pressure to take shower however there was no shower door, just a small panel which didn't stop water from going to the floor which was annoying. Also we had a room that was “visual and hearing impaired enabled” which meant there was a button on the outside of our door when pressed sounded an alarm and set off a strobe light on the inside of the room. DON'T let them put you in this room. Several times this device went off in the middle
