We had stayed at this resort several years ago and it had vintage charm but casita's needed renovation. We wanted a private pool like we had last time and rented one of the only ones that had been refreshed. The interior was nice and had two new bathrooms but sadly no tub. There was a fireplace but not sure if it was just for decoration? It would have been nice to have hooks in the bathroom ,vanity, desk or chair in our two bedroom Desert Willow casita. It did have a coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave. The interior was much nicer than the last time and update was nice.Pool area was not renovated but had new comfortable loungers but umbrellas were broken, tiles missing from pool and pool signs peeling off the walls. Lot’s of flies at the pool which I never experienced in the desert. There was an open area where there clearly should be a gate which was kind of creepy as we were in a bit of a remote spot which was quiet but it felt exposed. My husband blocked it with a deck chair turned on its side. On our way down the mountain front desk left message there would be a very very brief scheduled power outage the next day and front desk told us upon check in it should be about one hour. It was from the power company and they must of known in advance of the 1:15 call I received when we were 30 minutes away from the resort. It turned out to be four hours then at 5:15 when we were about to go to dinner another power outage. We asked front desk for flashlights and the chef was at front desk. When my husband inquired if they had anything available as there was no breakfast, lunch and now no dinner he got a very nasty response from the chef. We had not eaten all day. This 40 acre resort does not serve breakfast nor lunch during the week which is not clearly stated on their website. There was a mini mart that was closed due to outage and only stays open till 11AM. Why could the staff have not gotten a muffin or something knowing about this outage for their guests. There are no kitchens just a mini fridge and lucky I had brought some cheese and crackers. One of the reasons you stay at a big resort is because you can dine there and not leave the resort. There is nothing nearby but a country club a few ? miles away. They were not even giving out water and we had to ask for flashlights. No back up generator in lobby nor candles. No offer for water or any assistance getting back to our place in the pitch dark. Pool guy came next day at 9:30 and check out is 11 so no last minute dip in the pool. No spa services during the week and only dinner offered. We had dinner our first night we checked in and we found menu limited and pricy. We asked if there was a bar menu in the bar and it had I think 4 choices. Server was nice and we ordered from that limited menu but it was not great. It was pretty to sit outside with the lights but it was chilly and wish they had lit the big stone fireplace. Inside dining room was even colder. Coffee is $6.00 a cup and we are not

A spontaneous trip to Borrego Springs from San Diego turned my guy and I to this AMAZING gem. Such a great experience. Laura at the front desk made our evening even more fantastic. Our room was literally what dreams are made of and wish we could’ve stayed another night! What really made our stay was the Stargazing Theater and private access to the pool and spa. Cannot wait to visit again and will recommend to all I know!

Amazing resort. Martha and Laurie were very hospitable. Relaxing and lavish desert retreat. Not far from San Diego. Great views, nature and star gazing. Will be back.

I would rate the experience 5 of 5 but my phone app didn’t give me the option. This resort is a gem. Great location for star gazing, which is the reason we came. The star gazing grounds are wonderful and have ample seating. There are several pools to enjoy. The rooms are large and very comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was delicious. Mathew was our server and he was attentive, personable and professional. Great guy. We will be coming back very soon to enjoy another quick, and amazing get away.

Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in a casita with private hot tub. Off season, so no all the amenities- but also, not all of the people. Just what we needed to decompress. Friendly staff, vegan option at the restaurant (Beyond Burger/ not listed- but we’ll take it), Starbucks on site, and pet friendly. Can’t wait to come back, again and again!

We stayed here for two nights in Room 272 (all one bedroom casitas were booked) and the room was very nice, spacious and beautifully furnished with lovely antique furniture, a small corner loveseat that seats three, a leather ottoman, nice artwork, an elegant & roomy bathroom with luxury towels and pool towels, as well. Although the TV was not working or the heater (temperatures dropped on our second night due to wind storm) we called the front desk and they sent Chayce, who was very helpful, courteous and friendly and swapped out the TV and made some adjustments to the electrical panel to assure we were getting heat (something not often called for in Borrego!). I will say I was a bit taken aback at the poor condition of the pool area, though, next to yoga studio (reason for 4 stars vs. 5). In the past this area was kept in tip top shape. The cushions were dirty and the straps were torn, the curtains on the cabana were torn and ripped, the tile in the smaller pool was badly corroded. Maybe it’s the end of the season and the resort does not want to spend the money to fix it at this time or maybe the pool is being managed under separate contract? By the way, the smaller pool was quite warm (heated) while the larger lap pool was not. The front desk said neither pool was heated. Both were still comfortable to enter in late spring. We had breakfast at the Fox Bistro and everything was perfect (good food and service). We liked the addition of the little internet cafe (Casa Cafe & Market), too. I thought it was a nice bonus to offer free yoga classes (although we didn’t take) and I liked the self check out feature, as well. There’s no doubt this is the nicest & classiest place to stay in Borrego. The resort is so beautiful with an abundant of amenities. We have been coming here for a decade - often for special family occasions- and look forward to our next stay!

Hot and Lovely The A/C was not very cool at all, and front desk, manned by people totally acclimated to the desert, advised to set the temp to 76 degrees. Ma'am, that's the temp I set my heater to at home, so no, 76 isn't really what I would call air "conditioning." But thankfully, the weather was GORGEOUS so it was fine. Also, felt like we had the whole property to ourselves. Highly recommend visiting in June!
