The Crown Hotel, Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire - the Coaching Inn Group

We stayed here overnight and couldn't fault anything the staff were great as was the food, we are quite near to this Hotel so will definitely be going again need to try the Sunday roast unfortunately we ran out of time to return home,

As we live locally to The Crown, we were recommended by friends to visit for lunch. which we did today as we were celebrating our 59th anniversary of our first date, 4th July. The dining room was very busy as were the bar area tables as we left, the service was very good, the staff were all charming and polite and working very hard to accommodate all their guests. Perusing the menu we decided against a starter and were pleased we did as the fish platter was very good, tasty and rather large. I opted for the calves liver (the pipes should have been removed) which came well done - I had asked for it to be served pink - this was duly and pleasantly corrected and another portion brought which was pink - many thanks, exactly what should have happened and did, full marks to the waiting staff and the chef. Will we return - YES WITHOUT DOUBT .

Pleasant stay at the Crown hotel whilst on business in the area recently. There are some areas I would like to give feedback on that would have improved my stay. Room: My room was really cosy and lovely decorated. There was a Nespresso machine in the room, tea/coffee making facilities, bottled water and biscuits which was a nice touch. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was really powerful which was great. My only criticism of the room was the lack of climate control. At times the room was either quite cold or very warm. I appreciate however that the hotel is an historic building and it may not be possible to install this type of technology. Food & Drink: I ate in the restaurant every evening and had breakfast each morning too. The food was always brilliant and tasty. My criticism here is around the service. All of the servers were exceptionally polite and friendly, however they were very overworked. I never saw more than 2 servers at any one time and the restaurant was always very busy. This unfortunately did lead to lengthy delays in being served. I think the quickest time that my order was taken was 20 minutes after being seated. Even one extra pair of hands would have sped things up and not taken away from the dining experience. Location: Great location right in the center of Boroughbridge with on site parking and shops, bars and several restaurants close by. I really enjoyed my stay the Crown and would definitely stay here again. My feedback given is just that- areas to consider to improve on. It is by no means a reflection that I didn’t enjoy my stay.

We regularly stop at The Crown for lunch on our trips from north to south to visit family. Service is always good, but on this occasion, Matthew and Sharon were particularly attentive and looked after us really well. We particularly liked the new brunch options, which are served 2pm. This is a beautiful place to stop for lunch.

This was our third visit, and we thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. The room, staff, food, swimming pool were all very good. We hope to go again, as there is lots to see and do in the area.
