Town Inn

Worst. Hotel. Ever. We intended to go to the Red Roof Inn next-door when we got off the New Jersey Turnpike absolutely exhausted after driving for 12 hours. We turned in here by mistake since the sign was red and we were blurry eyed. The price was the same as what we had seen on the red roof Inn site, so that didn't clue us in either. The room, however, did clue us in. But at that point it was too late. The room was filthy. The tiles on the bathroom wall were broken and some of them had fallen off. There was no screen in the tub drain, yet there still managed to be a ton of dirt and hair in the tub. The safety lock on the inside of the door was broken. We didn't realize it until the morning, but there were a lot of moth eaten holes in the curtains, so people could easily see into the room at night. When a property obviously doesn't ever fix or maintain anything, you have to wonder if there is even the remote possibility of the smoke alarms and sprinklers working. It was so filthy. Of course...no refunds. We thought that we were so tired that it would just be OK to sleep for eight hours but it wasn't. We were worried about our safety, didn't fall asleep until 3 AM, and slept poorly. And finally gave up and left around 7. We feel like the sign looks as similar as possible to a Red Roof Inn sign so that they can catch overtired travelers like us. I mean, obviously our expectations weren't that high since we were going to red roof, so it's not like we expected Hilton amenities, but this was unacceptably dirty, damaged and unsafe. I would give this zero stars if I could. I think I would sleep on a park bench before I would stay here again, because I would feel safer and it would be cleaner. Absolutely awful.
