Hampton Inn & Suites Boone

First, let me say the staff here is wonderful. Everyone was very helpful and accommodating, first rate. That said, the hotel is an older hotel that has been updated. The walls are thin, very thin. We could hear the tv in the next room, and anyone going down the hall. The worst part was the mattress. We had spent 6 nights in hotels before this one, and this mattress was by far the worst. I slept well in the other hotels as we travelled, but was thankful we only had one night here. The breakfast was adequate. It is served on paper plates and utilizes plastic utensils. Because of the cost of the hotel room, we would opt to try another place the next time we return to Boone.

My wife and I have previously stayed at this hotel and love the location. Although this visit there were a few noticeable differences. Upon check in the counter person seemed to be lacking customer service experience. The water tub provided had room temperature water. Adding ice would have been nice and not that difficult. We did ask for fresh towels daily and the counter person obviously made note of that. The room itself was quiet and comfortable and in the back as requested. I did notice some employees parking in the guest parking areas next to the Diamond parking spot. My only other real complaint was the was only one person working the breakfast area. She was overwhelmed at times because of the busyness. Trying to keep stocked as well as cleaning tables, coffee station and having garbage emptied. On our visit last year there were more employees assigned to that area. But, overall, we will return next year, and those minor details were not a deal breaker but, just an observation.

Location is convenient but being right off Hwy 421 also came with a lot of traffic noise in the room all throughout the night. Room was clean when we arrived but maid service failed to show up several days of our stay when we were scheduled for service. When they did come by it was just to restock and make the bed - no cleaning of shower or vacuuming. Front desk clerk provided us with more towels. Breakfast was on par with competitors that provide hot breakfast. A few items were out every day but overall good selection. Rooms with balconies only have one chair so not setup for a couple to sit out on. Note, the refrigerators don't have a freezer section if that is important to you and also this hotel accepts pets. Seemed to have sufficient parking and lot was well lit at night. Entrance does not have a traffic light so left turn onto Hwy 421 can be a long wait at busy times. Few maintenance items needed but overall hotel appeared in good shape. Little more effort from staff could boost this place above average but there will still be the road noise on the front side of the hotel.

Came here off a bad experience at the Hampton Inn in Kingsport. Thankfully we were greeted by Diana and Duane at the front desk. Told Diana our tale of woe, and she gave us a nice room at the end of the hall after checking that it hadn't had a pet in it in quite some time. Some kids were getting a little rambunctious that night, and I ran into Duane in the parking lot, who was looking for their parents and stating, "we don't play that here" regarding the noise making and carrying on. True customer service. The breakfast the first morning was a little bit sparse, but it was top (Hampton) quality the next morning...now if they'd just get a mini waffle maker it would have been absolutely perfect.

Honestly I would steer clear of this one, Hampton prides itself as a luxury hotel, yet offers the most standard practices. There are cheaper hotels in the area. It’s clean, it’s moderately comfortable, but if you’re looking for that luxurious hotel experience, this is not it.

Excellent, clean and quiet hotel on King Street away from the crowds. The free breakfast buffet is average, so you might want to eat elsewhere. Samll snack bar. Rooms well appointed and clean. The staff are friendly and accomodating. Indoor pool.

This represents a Marriott Hotel l in decline. The nicest feature about it is a very good Breakfast with a marvelous selection. Aside from being vey unattractive the carpet needed cleaning . The window overlooking the parking lot had a drape that had been broken to the extent that it could not be fully closed

Fabulous hotel experience! It’s difficult to envision the layout of the town when trying to pick a hotel. This was a great pick! Clean, friendly and helpful staff! Loved the rooms - everything was so comfortable. Breakfast was a treat - fresh and hot! Plenty of room for everyone. Duane’s suggestions for dinner were spot on (Red Onion) and Logan texted periodically to check on how our stay was going!

1.Checking in was a fiasco. We ended up with over $3000 in holds on our credit cards for a reservation of under a $1000. There was a phoned in hold about 20 minutes after we checked in which we did not authorize. Our credit card company recommended cancelling that card and having it reissued, which we did. 2.The pool had been closed for several weeks because of a broken part although no signs were posted. The front desk directed the shivering kids and upset parents to a sister hotel which had a heated pool. As of a few minutes ago, the hotel believes the heater has been repaired but were unwilling to verify. 3.We have pets so we were restricted to a pet friendly room. We used a black light to discover several areas of mineral spots that had not been properly cleaned despite the assurance of the hotel general manager that the rooms are shampooed after each pet visit ... thus justifying the pet fee. See pictures. 4.We wrote a detailed letter to the owner of the hotel concerning the issues we had with the hotel. We have yet to receive a reply. 5.We will pass on this hotel and any other managed by Poteat Hospitality Corp. LLC PO Box 339 Laurinburg, NC 28353 910.276.2611. (I included the contact information of the management company because the Director of Operations wouldn't provide information for who he worked for.) For example, we will not be staying at the Aloft in Wilmington this spring. Several of the staff were quite nice including those that provided the contact information for the management company. However, the front desk staff does need to be guided on how to handle credit card problems of their own making...a major problem.
