This is a stunning historic hotel with beautiful rooms that is is wonderful to walk around and explore. In addition, our dinner in the Dungeon was delicious and the chef/staff were very accommodating and cognisant of my allergies. However, there are several service issues that should be addressed. First, I was double charged for my room because the system didn't show I had prepaid upon booking via Dalhousie's own website as I purchased a "Pay Today" promotion. I sent proof of payment with my bank statement and receipt, but the 2nd charge still posted and I have yet to receive a response to my email inquiring about the refund. Second, the majority of staff seemed very unhappy, stressed and unfriendly which made us feel rather unwelcome. They performed their jobs adequately, but for a luxury stay this was off-putting. Management should address why staff isn't happy. Third, the spa facilities could use a deeper cleaning/fixes. There was mold around the edges of the HydroPool and the body jets did not work. Also, upon filling the footbaths there was what appeared to be dead skin floating in the water. Fourth, WiFi doesn't reach well beyond the main area of the hotel. Limited to no service in guest rooms and side common rooms such as the library. If I am refunded my duplicate charge I will update my rating. We loved the beautiful of the hotel itself and the comfortable rooms, but the hospitality portion should be addressed for a luxury stay.
