I stayed here for 2 nights. Overall, the hotel was okay. The room was clean but felt a bit old. It was also quite noisy, as I could hear sounds from other guests, which made it hard to fully relax. On the bright side, the breakfast was great—good variety and quality—and the receptionist was friendly and helpful. There was a small issue with my booking. The restaurant staff told me that my room didn’t include breakfast, even though I was certain it did. I had to go back and speak with the reception to sort it out, which was a bit inconvenient. Despite that, the stay was generally fine. A few improvements in soundproofing and communication between staff would have made the experience better

A good location for visiting Brighton. A short drive to the local station and then 11 minute train journey into Brighton. If you use the train not only do you avoid the parking nightmare in Brighton, but you get 2 for 1 tickets to the Royal Pavilion.

Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful time. One egg, toast, coffee/ tea, a bit of beans,  a small hash brown , black pudding and rasher of bacon wasn’t worth a full English breakfast ( DOUBLE THE PORTIONS PLEASE) DINNER WAS FANTASTIC !

It’s a little dated. Felt cheap for the area but had so much potential

A good solid hotel. Receptionist very welcoming even at such a late hour of the night. A wedding reception was still in full swing at midnight. Great transport links on to the A23

The first impression gained from a car park and entrance full of 3 months growth of weeds and a “lawn” that was probably last cut in Cromwells time sets the tone for this hotel. Note to the owners, If you’re intent on ripping people off by charging 4 times the normal room rate for Hickstead week at least try and provide a service and experience worthy of that rip off price. No tonic at the bar and complete apathy and disinterest from a night manager with the people skills of a hungry alligator, breakfast that was best avoided after the first mornings experience and the previous occupants medication left in the drawer in the room. It was Fawlty Towers without the benefit of the humour !!! Avoid unless you’re absolutely STUCK or happy to stay in a below par establishment that has zero interest in its customers.

Decided to eat here as it was close to Hickstead Showground. Alarm bells should have rung when we arrived and the car park/outdoor areas were overgrown and generally unkempt. After waiting at the bar for 5 minutes with no one appearing to serve we asked at reception if we could have a table for dinner, we were seated at a dirty table in a very dated, empty dining room. Ordered bottle of pinot Grigio, were then given wine glasses so dirty you couldn’t see through them. Wrong wine was brought to the table, then to be told they had ran out of Pinot Grigio. We ordered gin and tonic instead, waitress came back to the table embarrassed and explained they had run out of tonic! On the menu the nachos were served with salsa, guacamole and sour cream. When they arrived we asked where the sour cream was and apparently they had run out and chef had replaced it with yoghurt! The cheese was so burnt that the nachos were almost inedible. Overall a terrible experience from start to finish.

A wonderfully warmth welcome to a charming hotel hidden down a lane! Booking in we were allocated a room on the first floor, as I have mobility problems I asked if a ground floor room could be arranged. No problem, all done with a smile. The room was spacious and comfortable, not too warm as the window had been opened. We visited the bar, served by the receptionist who appeared to be the only member of staff on duty who apologised that there was no choice of draught beer as there had been a wedding reception the previous day ( obviously drunk the bar dry of beer !) No deliveries on Sunday but the only beer on draught proved to be acceptable. My wine was certainly fine and the prices were reasonable. There was an exceptionally good breakfast on offer in very pleasant surroundings. The waiter was attentive and prompt in his service. The only quibble would be the offering of marmalade which was the usual little packet of something more like a jelly! At a cost of £12.00 per person it was quite expensive but given the quality and quantity of items on offer well worth it. This was a very pleasant overnight stay and would certainly visit again

We arrived a bit before check in time which is 3 pm however we had to wait till 4:30 before our room was ready for us. The room itself was very tired and in need of a makeover, the bed was very hard could have done with a soft mattress topper or ideally a new mattress. The wifi was terrible couldn’t get more than ten mins of wifi before it logged off again. On a positive note the staff were very friendly and the meals in the restaurant were very good. Not sure I could recommend this hotel or would stay again shame because it promised so much.
